I got a crack in my thumb and it doesnt really hurt that bad and the doctor says just not to punch anyhting hard. So I am going to do the double end bag and the speed bag, but no sparring or heavy bag, because thats where I hurt it. I punched someone in the head and my thumb must've hit first.

Kind of pisses me off though, because at first they read the xray wrong so I tried training w/ it and I couldn't do it.

Do you think that it will have any long term or short term effect?

You guys ever had anything like this?

honestly i wouldn't do ne punching for a week or 2 ATLEAST...same thing happened to me one time, i was at school shadow boxing and i was throwing a punch n my friend was throwin one at the same time, his fist hit mine and my thumb was swollen, black, and blue for a WHILE. i iced it for the first week so the swelling and color would go away and even wrapped it for a while like while at work. all in all though, i know it's hard to NOT work out and get ur blood flowing and all that, but in the long run, u need to let ur body heal. i promise u when u get older u WILL understand

Reason that happened, is because you didn't proper warp your hands up before sparring and bag work, it's very important to make sure your thumb is wrapped well too, along with the rest.
I've seen thumb injuries happen to alot of my student and myself in the past because of that.

I can't see how a problem with your thumb will make you slower...?

I don't know either... But onetime on espn I saw this one fight and the one guy broke something in his hand and he said he has never hit as hard with that hand since.... Maybe it was his mind playing tricks on him, or maybe he is just scared that since its weak now he will break again?

Meh i dont have much to worry about I guess, I trained a little today on double end bag and speed bag and it didn't hurt at all.
