He could hit, obviously, but it was more so his ability to grind down opponents that earned him his 103 knockouts. A left uppercut was one of his most effective punches, Saddler was a converted southpaw I believe.
i think many of saddlers attributes are underrated, as the article says he suffers historically because of the pep factor.
Which is strange really, because he dominated Pep in their series. Historically this should bouy him rather than trouble him but I think you are probably right.
pep's name kind of shadows the others on his resume. i figure without the crash injuries pep wouldn't have done better than split the series anyway. is there any historical feather that you would pick as a decent favourite over him?
i meant over saddler, and not so much who could beat him, many could, but what fighters present a bad matchup for saddler, you are right about the rules, saddler has more trouble drawing boxers into brawls with stricter refereeing. i like how he uses his height/reach advantage(plus holding) to keep guys close in front and yet can still use his own power well.
