George Groves was looking seriously good in sparring around August/September and was getting a bit big for his boots. Rob McCracken decided to throw him in with Froch...who put him on his arse fairly easily. Not at all malicious and Groves took it well apparently - saying that he deserved that and it had refocused him. Good story for all parties that. This content is protected This content is protected
Hmmm. That's pretty much the complete opposite to what I heard happened, but that's sparring bull**** for you. I've heard Groves has had his way with Froch on more than one occasion.
To be fair to Dubstep i remember something about this. Dunno who mentioned it but it's not first time.
I'm very, very confident in my source - but as he is a close mate of Rob McCracken there could be some bias! I severely doubt it though - I can imagine Groves landing some quick fast shots, Carl going "right then" and smacking him. Carl then undoubtedly called him a "true warrior" and Groves admits he has more to learn.
Well, I know at least two people that have seen them spar, as well as one of the fighters, and I've never heard of Groves being dropped. I've never heard of either of them being dropped, although plenty of big punches were landed. They've sparred on a couple of occasions now, I think.
Didn't he spar Froch before the Kessler fight? I'm sure I read that Groves more than held his own on that occasion. Also good to see Groves take the original story in good spirit if true. :good
I was told that Groves couldnt believe how easy it was to hit Froch when they were sparring. No big revelation there as defence isnt exactly Froch's strong point.
