Raised in Orland park, which for those who don't know Chicago is a suburb on the southside. I was at one of his fights back in the early 90's. He began his career as a pretty good prospect until he lost a foot in a bike accident. He fought on and even challenged for the cruiser title with a prosethetic foot. really an amazing story.
Here's his second fight with Alonzo Ratliff ( another Chicagoan ) in 1988. He lost both of his fights to Ratliff, but this one was actually an entertaining fight. As you can see Bodzianowski's movement was slightly compromised for obvious reason. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skjtniJHSmc
He should have been there when David Haye stood on a press conference table to show his bruised little toe. Sadly, Bodwianowski died a couple of years ago, age 52, heart attack. Makes you think.
One could say that his inability to Pivot... was Pivotal in his not enjoying greater success, he certainly had some talent and desire..
I first read about him in ring magazine sometime back in the late 80's. Then about a year or two later saw one of his fights in chicago. It was a small and not too extravagant card from memory. But his name always stuck out in my mind. Probably the first time I ever heard of someone fighting with a prosthesis like that. He never amounted to being anything great, but just the fact that he was getting in there and doing it was admirable. I've heard of people applying for public aid for lesser reasons.
