Craig Lyon out of Prizefighter: Campaign to get Choi Tseveenpurev into replace him!!!

Dan, great letter mate (and I'm just thinking outloud here) but how much do you think the promoters need at least one relatively big name in the draw to get the crowds in?

I appreciate you taking your time to write to us about Prizefighter. I am genuinely sorry that you are disappointed that the people you mention have been given places in Prizefighter.

Clearly, we have had made mistakes, but there have been successes, and to answer your specific point, the likes of Martin Rogan, Ovil McKenzie, Ryan Brawley and Martin Murray have all arguably gained opportunities that normal championship boxing might not have afforded them, particularly at their respective stages of their career.

Most recently we got a lovely letter from Nick Okoth for giving him a life changing opportunity.

Just so you understand where we are coming from, Prizefighter was never designed solely for ‘nearly men,’ it was designed to give a shorter, faster alternative to championship boxing- in much the same way 20/20 cricket runs alongside Test match cricket. It was designed to be entertaining, rather than provide an answer to all of Boxing problems.

We recently conducted a survey at a Prizefighter show where nearly 56% of the audience of had not been a Boxing show in the last 3 years and it was a younger audience than we normally get.

This bodes well for the future of Boxing

As regards Choi – I agree with you he deserves his chance. I like him. We just see him as an entrant for the feathers/super-feathers when we do that tournament.

He is a world class feather and to install him in a tournam,ent of bantams and super-bantams may have been wrong.


Believe it or not we get loads of letters/e-mails from various boxers who all think they should be in these tournaments and we do try and be as fair to all types of Boxers as best we can,

But like in life, it is impossible to keep everyone happy all of the time.


Anyways thanks again for writing in, and hopefully when Choi gets his chance, you may even consider watching.

TBH...he's spot on. What were you guys thinking trying to get a big, strong guy like Choi in with these lot?

 

They should do a battle royal style tournament to see who can take a place in the event.
