Craig McEwan, 18-0 with 10 KO's

I am firmly in the pro McEwan camp, i think he has got the skills to at least challenge for a world title. To do this though he needs to step his opponents very soon. This may be a problem for craig if he cant get any1 to fight him in the states. For a normal fighter they could fight eliminators to fight for the brit or commenwealth but i dont know if Craig qualifys for this or would want to come back here to do this. Also i dont know if he qualifies for the American versions such as the NABF since he resides there. Maybe he needs to try and fight for intercontinental titles to get a ranking for a world title to force fighters to fight him.

 

Stick me on that train too :goodI agree that the standard of opponent should be a bit better than what it's been but with Roach as his trainer/manager and GBP backing him it's only a matter of time before he gets a title shot. Might not be Pavlik, more likely Sturm or whoever has the WBA belt at the time, but I reckon it'll happen.

He just needs that step up or certainly someone who has a much higher ranking but is very beatable... like Daniel Geale.

 

Craigs being managed well by Roach, but imo Craigs still 2 years away from world title level,theres a huge gulf in levels from who hes facing now and who he could face at world title level.:bbb

 

Craig is a very very long way away from getting near a title shot. 18 fights and no opponents is not good for my confidence in the kid.

Of course the gulf is greater but the middleweight division might be having a break up shortly. It surely is only a matter of time before Pavlik moves up to SMW and if he still has the belts then they could become scattered all over the place given Craig a better chance against, say, a weaker champion in due course.

But he does need his level of opponent stepped up. I know this, he knows this. He's frustrated by things too. Fights against Forrest and Angulo fell through which he can do nothing about.

His next fight has to be against a much higher ranked opponent to find out where he is about. Geale is ideal.

 

ive seeen him a few times on espns friday night fights, hes ok like. he is a bit slow, not a heavy hitter either. hope he gos as far as he can though, hes got an amazing chance in the wildcard gym

 

I like McEwan, I remember seeing him win the 4 nations in the ams and thought he was going all the way, nothing in the pros has made me change my mind about him.

Think he needed a slightly slow build up as he has a strange style that needed altering for the pros, however he gets perfect sparring and is trained by Roach so gets the best of everything really - better than all the British/Irish middles imo and dying to see him step it up against a name fighter

 

I think craig mac has more than proved he up with best in british boxing wether he goes onto world level or not he is doing whats ask of him 18-0 he can only beat whats in front of him . we have seen for years boxer from scotland and england
get built up records and made to be world champions yet ninetimes out of ten failed . yet we have good chance graig could make it and scottish posters on here are slating him shame on you,s . if you look at the boxers trainned by freddie roach he has the pick of america so we would assume he think craig has the ability and is on course to fight for titles. good luck to the clovie boy

I just really wish he could get a fight in Britain. I would probably get myself along to cheer him on.

Would enjoy seeing him fight Barker me thinks.
