Craig McEwan vs Alfredo Angelo?!

I was just interested to know if he has some observations regarding their records that I hadn't noticed. Chill the **** out.

im just too passionate when i get into a debate.

 

Angulo has the better resume, but only in his last few fights. And none of them are exactly top 10.

McEwan has also fought middleweights, he's a southpaw, he's sparred with the likes of Hopkins, he has better skill than anybody Angulo faced.

It comes down to whether McEwan has a good chin, can fight under constant pressure, has the required stamina.

Shaw wants to match Angulo with brawling ex-titlist Ricardo Mayorga (28-7-1, 22 KOs), who is never in a bad fight and pushed Shane Mosley to the limit before being stopped in the 12th round in September. Shaw told ESPN.com that he's had positive conversations with Mayorga attorney Tony Gonzalez about the fight (because promoter Don King is out of the country), as well as HBO.

"I went to HBO and asked them if I could do Mayorga and they said absolutely. They love the fight," Shaw said. "We're trying to make the fight for February or March. It's the kind of fight that could really establish Angulo, but it's also a test. Mayorga can really crack. Tony was very interested.
"Mayorga has been in big fights and beaten guys like Vernon [Forrest] and Fernando Vargas and he's been in with guys like Shane and [Oscar] De La Hoya, so he's more than a legitimate test for Angulo. It would be one of those fun fights. I hope I can pull it off."

 

They are talking about next year there.

Sounds like they are underestimating McEwan and looking past him. Very very dangerous.

 

I like Angulo; as previously stated he is a bit one-dimensional, but he is good at what he does (ala Margarito - don't worry I'm not saying he is at that level yet).

However, I think at this stage a fight with Mayorga is just stupid. It would be exciting, but Mayorga would end up man-handling the living **** out of him. Just my opinion; Angulo is still a novice and shouldn't be in there with an animal like that just yet. Give it four, maybe five fights.

Btw Antcull I love the bit at the end of the article were it is stated: "It would be one of those fun fights." What fight are they thinking about: Bungle v Zippy for the unified Rainbow World Title.

angulo will break his back, if u watched his(angulos) last fight u'd know that mcewan will have his hands full, please tell me who the hell is on mcewans resumes that suggests he stands a chance against angulo, angulo is very much like a young antonio margerito a typical mexican pressure fighter whos constantly comes at u throwing non stop bombs he's going to KO mcewan.

 

I saw McEwans lat fight and he looked a good boxer but I think Angulo will hurt McEwan to the body and chop him down.

 

The thing both these fighters have in common is that they have come through every fight they have had with flying colours so far and the limit of their respective talents still remains a mystery but clearly if they fight each other they will both be up against their toughest opponent yet. Who will win is about as easy to predict as the lottery numbers and only a fool would bet big bucks on the outcome of this one.

Remember, the fighter who looks the part doesnt always win against the ugle styled guy. eg. look at Pav v Hop or Khan v Prescott. Both times the eye pleasing fighter was destroyed

 

Jeez McEwan has an awgul padded record. He needs to go with Warren, his fighters are usually taking the step up by his stage.
