He did at Harry Simon, caught Harry with a couple to if I remember, decent fight but Simon was way to strong. Round 5 I think
TFFP, maybe I didn`t make myself clear enough. Craig was not trying to compare himself with Darren Barker, though why you should object to such a thing is beyond me. He was making the point that if he had stayed in Britain, he could have gone to Championship level without having to fight anyone even of the standard he is fighting now. When he first left to go to America, he did so in the knowledge that a far higher standard would be expected of him and this has proved to be the case. It seems to me that those in the UK who mump and moan about fights with Barker, McDermott etc are simply being parochial. Too many British boxing fans expect their boxers to take the easy option of being big shots in their own back garden, only to fall flat on their faces if they step up abroad. Craig chose to step into the lion`s den and sometimes I feel that many British (dare I say English) fans resent the success he has had and the greater success he is working hard to achieve.
I think people are under the impression that by going abroad a fighter is not proving himself the best domestically, we all want to see a fighter win brit c'wealth and euro titles beating the best here before going to world class. Rarely happens though as we know and Craig easily made the correct choice going abroad. Think of it? go to the Wild Card and get the best facilities advice the boxing world can offer or, stay in Britain to get protected by Frankie Warren and guys like Darren Barker/John Murray cant even get fights. Hmmm decisions decisions
Thanks very much for telling me that Mr Grendal, its made my year:happy & you can tell Craig from me that its no bother cheering him on from here, in fact its an absolute pleasure! Craig is a special talent, & the haters on brit ESB are going to find out soon enough what we have been raving about:deal Craig McEwan is a special talent. better even than my hero Scott Harrison? You BET he is. Scotty was some fighter, but Craig McEwan has it all. You heard it here first folks.
Hopefully he will have a few fights back here in Scotland too coz I'd love to go see him but cant afford to go to the states too often As I said earlier its just a shame we dont get the coverage of more stuff from across the water then we would be able to rate and judge the fighters he does face. Brian Vera was a very good scalp for him and Andy Lee (if it happens) will be a good one too. Looking forward to watching his career unfold ps. Dunky gaun yerself mate gimme a shout and we'll see about goin for a wee pint or 6 and go catch a fightcard
I got no problems with that D-Mac. Now listen, I aint picking on Scotty, hes always been my favourite fighter, & at featherweight if you fought his fight, you lost. Simple as that. Scotty was probably the toughest ******* Scotland ever produced, if you went toe to toe with Harrison, you got knocked out. Thats why I loved him so much. Scottys only weakness was against runners. Run & stick out the jab? You could steal a decision against Scotty. However, Craig McEwan IMO is the whole package, he doesnt have any weaknesses. THATS what I mean here. Brawl with Craig? he will counter the **** out of you. Box Craig? He will pick you apart. Natural leftie, & a switch hitter? THATS what Im getting at here. Craig McEwan is some fighter. So was Harrison. In different ways. Im just being honest. Its what I do best here.
kerrminator, if there was an award for the nicest guy you will ever meet on a boxing forum? You would win hands down. You are a class act bro:good
**** I used to think you were the hard nosed defender of all things Scottish and a thick skinned lump etc. But you actually wet your panties there cos Craig Ewan blew some smoke up yer hole Just messing:good *McEwan is the best thing out of Scotland at the minute too:deal
Ach dont believe him, he said I was the nicest guy last week Totally agree, Craig is a tricky character, talented boy.
ach you aswell TD, now you are putting me into a corner here! I only said Kerrminator was the best cos I believe that you Topdog would take liberties in your gym whereas Kerrminator only wants to take me for a pint, you want to take me for a sparring session! & when a boozebag like me has to make a decision, I always back the guy who wants to buy me a beer instead of the guy who fancies taking me to hell & back in his own gym!
My gym days are well and truly behind me lol. I was training 4 days a week and running 7 miles 3 or 4 days a week too but now that I have a chronic knee condition im fecked. Cant even do much swimming anymore and I've put on a bit of weight since having to quit the fire service 2 years ago. However on the bright side I always wanted to work with Birds of Prey so im in an ideal situation now I say we go catch a few beers then down to TD's gym to give him some moral support as he pounds some poor sparring partners
