The ref was looking closely at the beginning of the 5th. I think he'd made up his mind to stop the fight imo.

 

Did Gomez get pissed again he wasn't allowed to go out on his shield like with Johanesson?

 

Sure was a crap stoppage, Khans punches were not even landing clean on Gomez when he was on the ropes. Yes he was throwing nothing back but he was not exactly taking shots either.

 

bullsh1t stoppage, but i've seen worse....only seen the khan knockdown and the fifth round though.

khan needs a top trainer asap to work on a defence.

yet another bad stoppage in favour of the Brit favourite. These refs are told to do it.
Gomez must be shaking his head getting stopped like that, considering that against Arthur the ref let the fight go on longer than he should have. Arthur was totally done after the second KD, it was terrible reffing in both fights.

and to say 'Kahn was going to win anyway' is a nonsense.

 

It's almost as if the refs are told to stop it once Khan seems to be getting the upper hand. Gomez fought like a lion and deserved more than that. You could understand if he had been cautious and Khan got him in a corner and started unloading on him, however, Gomez has shown this was his style and had constantly been firing back - he was basically stopped for engaging in a tear up and fighting back.

If the ref was so concerned about his previous fights, he should have jumped straight in after the opening bell.
