Body language and immaturity aside try to imagine hearing the roar of those crowds again and it wasn't for you after twenty years. The adrenaline addiction as a fighter can't be dismissed, neither can the effects of withdrawal from it when you retire.

If Bud keeps hanging around and talking ****, it's because there is a part of him that wants to back up that talk by fighting again.
