Crawford has got one of the worst resumes for the holder of P4P no.1 status.

Let's take a look at his "best" and most recent fights at 147lbs (a weight closer to his true size)...

    -Spence:
    • Had been struggling making 147lbs for a while.
    • Prior to fighting Crawford he had 1 fight in 28 months. That one fight took place 15 months prior being against 35 year old who almost knocked him out despite having an abysmal KO record.
    • Has looked EXTRA chinny and mediocre since car crash, which clearly has taken something out of him.
    • Inactivity, car crash & being drained = EXTREMELY rusty, limited sharpness, zero chin resilience.
    • Culminated in a complete utter domination by Crawford, being outperformed by the likes of Amir Khan, Kavalaiuskas (who KD Crawford) and part time Shawn Porter (which highlights Spence was absolutely not 100%).
    • + Spence's resume itself is underwhelming in of itself.

    -Porter
    • Part time commentator
    • Winning the fight for many before his dad through in the towel for absolutely no reason whatsoever.
    • Was out for 15 months before fighting Crawford.
    • Retired straight after the Crawford fight...hence...the obvious, this guy felt he was at the end of his career. Beating someone at the end of their career isn't necessarily something to gloat about.

    -Brook
    • Brook was essentially inactive for two years prior to fighting Crawford in 2020. He fought unknown Mark Deluca 8 months prior so Brook was an unknown entity himself.
    • His most notable win prior to Crawford in 2020 was Shawn Porter which was in 2014...over 6 years difference.
    • Had already had his eye sockets caved in by GGG and Spence.
    • Fought Khan after Crawford, then retired...on his way out clearly.
    • Deathly drained in this fight, looked like an AIDs victim in the weigh in and got knocked out by a jab which was an arm punch...and really the only real blow landed following being 3-0d by Brook.
    • This was Kell's first fight without Dom Ingle, his long time trainer.

Basically, there's a common theme here, and it's definitely not Crawford is fighting the tough fights...he's being carefully maneuvered around easy targets. Any claim that he has high ring IQ or is extremely skilled has yet to be justified - may be he is, but the condition of his opponents has not allowed him to demonstrate this, which would also suggest that his handlers/Crawford don't believe the hype themselves.

This is what qualifies as Ring Magazine P4P no.1 apparently. I would say this org has lost credibility but they haven't had that to begin with.

    That is not an argument.

His resume is objectively **** - naming a list of those he should have fought isn't going to make it otherwise.

It's mid level. Lomachenko and GGG were quite a bit worse. Mosley got there by basically beating Oscar and little else.

    Who's arguing?

However if your gonna crap on a resume, have a list of fighters that could have improved the resume

Because if there is none then your
    thread is worthless

P4P is made up drivel. Crawfish will probably retire now and then some random Japanese child will take over the imaginary forgotten to history P4P #1 position.

Tyson Fury is clearly P4P #1/

Where was Inoue in 2015? Crawfish? Usyk? etc etc etc - Exactly nowhere.

I'm pointing out Crawford's resume for being terrible and hence not worthy of being ranked P4P no.1 . That is my case. All you have said is "who should he have fought?", and I don't have an answer for that.

However, P4P rankings aren't decided based on "who he should have fought", they're based on who fighters have beaten....which is my point..that is very clear.

Crawford gets extra points for being American. That’s how it’s always been.

How people rate P4P is also subjective and not always as you describe

It's a solid resume that really at this point in time couldn't have been improved

If Inoue was American and Crawford Japanese, Inoue would be number 1 PFP.

Worst, absolutely not. Maybe the most lacking in marquee names though.

You have to remember he beat the very best competition available at LW, LWW and WW and is lineal champ in 3 divisions.

It's quite an exclusive list of boxers who were genuinely the best LW in the world and then the best WW in the world. Crawford certainly doesn't look out of place in the list.

Nobody in America is voting a midget as p4p number 1. I can’t recall ever in the history of boxing an American below 126 being p4p number 1.

Usyk is still P4P number 1

Crawford needs to go up to 154 and beat Tszyu or Charlo then maybe he can be at the top.

Crawford has beaten everyone put in front of him. He had occasional problems but put in enough dominant performances to be considered #1. He's a damn good fighter and would be a respectable enough opponent to share the ring with greats.

But he is not, in the overall picture, anything extremely special. For instances, I pulled a bunch of old boxing magazines and here's the WW rankings as a random example:

    Jan. 1980
    1 Pipino Cuevas
    2 Wilfred Benitez
    3 Roberto Duran
    4 Ray Leonard
    5 Thomas Hearns

    Jan. 1994
    1 Pernell Whitaker
    2 J C Chavez
    3 Crisanto Espana
    4 Buddy McGirt
    5 Yori Boy Campas
    6 Felix Trinidad
    7 Meldrick Taylor
    8 Larry Barnes
    9 Ike Quartey
    10 Wilfredo Rivera

There are very few guys, even on these random lists, that would lose to Crawford.

Ok so Tyson Fury is the reigning king of P4P drivel, gotcha.

You really have a good sense of humor, Tyson.
