Think about it. If he fights Spence next, beats him and then moves up to take on Charlo he will be in a unique opportunity to become undisputed in 3 divisions.
I think we have different defintions of "Legendary" Now if he beat Spence. moved up beat Charlo. moved up and beat Canelo at Super Middle then yes that would be legendary. Otherwise it would be a great achievement despite not fighting many elite fighters.
Ive been thinking about that but i think Charlo will probably move up in weight and will not fight Crawford. The bigger Charlo is already talking about moving to 168 and talking about Jermell moving to 160. Hope Jermell stays at 154 its a much better division than 160 if he can continue to make the weight he should establish himself there and defend his undisputed title theres nothing for him at 160 .
There was a time when Muhammad Ali was just a single win over Joe Frazier and George Foreman before he had wins over Joe Frazier and George Foreman. But that time came and that time passed and that time is now no more. For now the man, the myth, the hero, the legend, the activist, the mime, the actor, the poet, the librarian, the comedian, the person, he is what he was to become and what once was the future is now the present or the past. And that, my friends, is how winnin' is done. That, my allies, is how legends...are made.
You're not a boxing legend if you become undisputed in 3 divisions? Its not some Broner type accomplishment.
Broner is a 4 division champ. Legend? Of course not. Who he beat matters. Crawford’s resume is paper thin.
He ain’t, he’s a 4 division titlist. There’s a massive difference. Being undisputed in 3 weight classes(which we haven’t even see someone do it in 2 weight classes let alone 3, as far as the 4 belt era’s concerned) can be classified as legendary.
He is going to lose to Erroll Spence Jr and he has an excellent chance of being stopped then he can get another Texas beating from Jermell Charlo with Boots Ennis afterwards providing the final rites in a Philly barbecue roasting. 38-3 is not a bad record for a 3 weight division world champion.
Nobody cares about the technical crap though. When they are introduced in the ring they are introduced as champion. Even if we went by your definition, Crawford’s resume is still basura. Same as nobody cares about Broner and his 4 divisions. He got there with crap opponents. Crawford isn’t a legend in any way.
A lot of people care about the technical crap. Anyone who claims Bernard Hopkins and Felix Sturm or Wladimir Klitschko/Deontay Wilder were the same, they were both champions and that It was just “technical crap” that seperated them need to seriously question their understanding of the game. One was a champion, the other was a titlist. Becoming undisputed is no easy task, as we saw from Jermell Charlo most recently. In a mediocre division, he had to work for years, come back from losses and rely on favourable judging to get there. Doing it in 3 weight classes can indeed be referred to as a legendary feat. And noone says Crawford is a legend now, so don’t spin it. This is just a very unlikely what if scenario.
