    yes but its weird seeing any remotely competitive fight being ppv

    I agree that PPV's should only be reserved for big fights. Basically, if you are known by casual fans then put it on PPV because it's the casuals that make PPV's successful anyways... but if you aren't that well-known outside boxing, no matter how good the fight is or how highly rated you are, then you shouldn't be on PPV.

    Lmao, you left out the rest of my comment where I explained what qualifies for a PPV.

    GGG's PPV was his test to see how well he's known by casuals. We found out not that much. His PPV showed he needs that marquee name (like ehem Canelo) if he wants to crossover to that next level where you can be on PPV.

    Also, they had to put it on PPV because of the amount of money Lemieux was asking. Similar to how Postol/Crawford has to be on PPV due to HBO's budget cuts.

    GGG isn't big enough to carry a PPV by himself yet. He's a boxing star but not a PPV star. He's on the track to become one, but he needs his "Oscar De La Hoya". I've always said that.

    Everyone needs a crossover fight but non exist for anyone. Time for these guys to make themselves Superstars.

    Look at Broner. Never ever faced an elite fighter once but everyone knows him. That Maidana fight was almost PPV before Haymon changed it. He used social media and got the attention he wanted.

    A promoter can do only so much. Its like being on a record label nowadays. You have to sell yourself too.

    It's still not clear to me how you differentiate the two fights.

    Are you saying neither was a big fight? That both were undeserving for PPV, but they were testing the waters in an effort to try and push new stars over? Or are you saying something else? Or... ?

    I only ask because I seem to recall you being rather ecstatic with regards to Golovkin-Lemieux, but IMHO - there is little difference between the 2 match-ups, and neither were what I would personally describe as "big fights" in the PPV-worthy sense.
