Mayweather was the last fighter with the charisma, and business sense to build a successful PPV brand.
i know how to read...i know what i read....the reason that fight was on ppv is because hbo COULDNT afford to put it on regular hbo...they couldnt afford to pay crawford what theyve been paying him for what was the biggest/toughest fight of his career.....do you think crawford demanded this to be on ppv? and showtime has enough of a budget...enough of a budget that they could prob make lara/ggg and afford it...hbo on the otherhand cannot
ya ward is really crying with envy...lol..he made hbo pay him 2 mil for a sparring session ahead of the kovalev fight...lol...im sure hes real blue about that one! "you want me to fight kovalev? and go away from ggg? ok i want a 3 fight deal...kovalev the last fight...you pay me...thanks"
Floyd was the least charismatic PPV draw in the history of boxing. He was talented of course but more than anything he benefited from the "perfect storm" created by DLH's departure and Pac entering the fray around the same time.
Really, cause I can swear Pac built his ppv success off name dropping Floyd! Without Floyd, Pac is not even interesting
The PPV hype was paved by DLH. Before DLH only heavyweight fights were big PPV events. DLH made Mayweather and Pac PPV stars.
