I know, I'm just saying that with GGG after the Lemieux fight people criticized the numbers based on the quality of the opponent, but this fight shows that the quality of the opponent does not always bring bigger numbers.
The Crawford and Postol fight was never really promoted properly. Bob Arum and HBO is lazy and greedy. They never have promoted their top fighters aggressively. When Mayweather was with HBO, he took control of his own destiny and promoted himself, Canelo has a built in fan base, Pacquiao basically promoted himself with his fighting style and energy in the ring. Terrence can put up bigger numbers but he has to take control and promote himself.
Though I'm not sure how accurate these numbers are, I knew it wouldn't be a seller but I thought it'd do more than 50k, that's shockingly low, find it hard to believe to be honest.
Where did I imply hbo owed him anything? Lol Hbo been paying him fine to fight on hbo....viewership has been good and he's been delivering ....he sees everyone else getting money with other outfits .....Crawford supposed to volunteer for a pay cut for postol? Lol U don't even know what ur trying to say ....ur just babbling
Yes but by your own admission, Canadian PPV numbers are not included so for all we know, 150k is purely for the US domestic market. That means that there is a rather sizable chunk of ppv money from Canada that is unaccounted for. If you know Canadians you know that we are obsessed with anything of ours, even if it sucks (like leafs) and we are doing pretty well financially. I am absolutely certain that if you account for the Canadian market, that PPV did double or even tripple the US buys. I bought both PPV, and hoped both would be a success. I think it is our duty as boxing fans to encourage young talent. I didn't enjoy the Postol-Crawford ppv but I had a blast watching GGG-Lemieux (admittedly it could be because i was rooting for Postol and he lost, but I think the overall lack of action could have something to do with it as well).
That's fine. There are likely unaccounted non US PPVs in both cases. But, that wasn't really my point. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
Decent numbers when you factor in the small purse. I think some people think it always has to make a billion dollars to be a success, when that obviously isn't the case. Some fights need a bit of extra income to make them feasible, a small PPV boost certainly does that. Nobody would have blinked an eye if HBO ate the entire cost of producing this fight on regular HBO and yet the same people will now, somehow, claim that making $2.5m in PPV income makes it less successful.
PPV doesn't mean ****, PPV is a Mayweather thing and doesn't show the worth or value of a boxer. Anyone who thinks it does is re****ed
Just damage control from all the bumdog millionaire fans who swore he was gonna be the next ppv king taking over for floyd.....nothing to see here
