Crawford recently said that he believes he would have beaten Floyd. Do you agree? Crawford was getting outboxed by tiny Gamboa. I don't see how he beats Floyd.
No. Crawford is vey good, maybe the best current welter. (IMO, that would be Spence). But Floyd was considerably better.
Everyone beats Floyd until they fight him. I wonder do these guys get star struck or is Floyd so good they just look amateur?
Every Champion level boxer should be of the opinion that they are the best. The kind of strength/courage it takes to climb to the top comes from believing in yourself above all else. In that ring you are all you've got. Of course he believes he could win. It's nothing too shocking, every undefeated champ says the same thing when asked about "Fighter X." That being said Mayweather would pick him apart with a clear UD.
Floyd never beat anyone as good as Crawford is and the way Floyd fought versus Pacquiao was just shameful. If he had to do that vs Pacquiao to win then how on earth would he get by Crawford?
Crawford would have been a harder opponent for Floyd than Maidana or Pac (who was clearly past his best). No doubt about it At 135 I'd pick Floyd, at 147 - hard to name a winner.
What else is he supposed to say when they put a microphone in his face and ask him the question directly?
Crawford's a threat every second of every round, so he could definitely catch Floyd with something huge. That said, Floyd would have ducked him through retirement and then plain ducking.
Crawford would have never beaten Floyd because Floyd would have never gotten in a ring with him. Floyd would have avoided him like the plague. I still believe Floyd is the better boxer but very much risk-averse.
He'd be competitive, But he ain't beating Floyd Mayweather. Floyd would figure him out after about a good 4 solid rounds from Crawford and then start picking him apart.
