And I am a bit disappointed, enough of these homecrowd handpicked Omaha nights. Crawford is more dynamic as an underdog spoiler fighting on his opponents home turf. It's time to fight in Vegas against boxing stars....but that probably wont happen with Arum in control. Crawford fighting as if every punch and attack has to elicit an ooh and ahh, it would be nice if he would just attack and get this guy out of here...
As the comp and threat get better he will. To me he stayed southpaw too long, but I think that he wanted to punish Jean for the talking that he did.
I'm not saying he doesn't, but those shots were KTFO type of shots. He hasn't fought a good fighter that's got real power yet. Gamboa was tiny.
Lemieux sucks, but he hits harder than anyone Bud's fought, fact. Curtis Stevens also hits far harder, p4p obviously, than anyone Bud's fought. Those are facts.
Lemieux couldn't box one lick. Couldn't box at all. He rarely landed on GG. Jean landed on Crawford. Ko shots and Crawford didn't blink. You can't imagine that if Crawford got hit by a puncher the way Jean landed that he might get hurt or ko'd. Different fight, different threat.
I think it's more a case of Crawford not being comfortable taking the lead, his opponent was short, constantly out of range, and had no inside game whatsoever. Crawford with the longer arms and range should of pressed the action more, actually use the jab with purpose, and put the little guy on the defensive. With that said this is ultimately what Crawford did but he wasted a lot of rounds in between. Jean did nothing in that fight but try to land a counter right, considering that was all the guy had Crawford should of just steam rolled him.
Lemieux landed a couple of huge left hooks and right hands, bounced off GGG like a BB off a freight train atschatschatsch
Foh lol. Nothing landed serious on GG. Lemieux was scared to move in and open up and take a few to land a serious shot on GG and follow up...and when the top guys fight, you need to land more than one shot. Vince Phillips didn't just tko Kostya with one shot. It took 10 rounds of right hands to put him away. It took what 9 rounds for GG to finally put Lemieux away. Lemieux was in defensive mode from the jump.
GG, Postol and Crawford put up great fights and looked very good in their wins. But I've only seen Crawford hit with a bomb and hurt and survive under pressure. I have yet to see GG in that light. That's the only thing holding me back from backing him. GG is no different than any other top fighter who imo is untested and chin untested.
