Those are really good ratings. Very indicitive of the challenge benevidez posed, and probably due to the crazy weigh in as well.

The only question out of this that matters to me is, does this translate to help in negotiating "across the street" ?

Kinda wonder what they would have got without that bust up... There had been very little real promotion to the fight

These are damn good ratings. Just goes to show that boxing is still here and that the further the promotors put it behind pay walls the more niche it becomes. There really always is a huge argument for having some good boxing on free to air television. It the kind of exposure most of the sports, apart from football and NFL etc, needs.

Japan has very few sports stars. For example, there's a tennis player Kei Nishikori who is generally a top 10ish guy who makes a killing in endorsements, far more than most players, and draws in huge ratings in Japan every time he plays. There's just a less crowded field.

I think there was a huge football game leading up to it...

Very good numbers, strange though, I myself wasn't particularly hyped about this fight and it's almost like a tune up. What gives?

True but Hughie Fury's last fight against a nobody did 5 mill on channel 5 in the UK becoming the 2nd highest rated broadcast that year on channel 5.

I'm a Crawford fan and those numbers are impressive for the US market, no doubt about that, but it just goes to show what a crowded market boxing is in in the US in regards to sport that such low numbers are actually good. You can see why boxing has so few cross over stars at the moment in the US, which is a real shame a talent like Crawford should be well known, same with Spence, Loma, Usyk, Wilder, etc. Hopefully boxing has some kind of revival in the US outside of the normal demographics.
