I think its a mismatch of epic proportions at that. Too many people think Crawford can beat Canelo, but have not seen what happened to Charlo? He was no match for Canelo and he was just 2 weight classes below. Everyone said his speed would be enough and I did too, but discovered that moving up 2 weight classes made it to where he wasn't fast anymore and if anything, Canelo looked to be the faster guy. And Crawford wants to jump 3 weight classes? Lol, not sure if he's serious or not. I mean, he has nothing, nothing, to beat Canelo. People like to harp on Crawford skills allowing him to outbox Canelo, but thats a fantasy. The skills gap isn't that big and he wont be able to carry it through when he discovers nothing he does will stop Canelo. Similarly to the situation with Charlo, it might turn out that Canelo is just as fast as Crawford at 168 and his defense skills could present a bigger challenge than Crawford anticipated. What will he do then? He doesn't have the power to hurt Canelo nor has he shown he can survive the bombs Canelo likes to throw. In short, all Crawford would be able to do is either run to survive or get knocked out brutally if he tries to engage.
Charlo's not the best example to give as to why it's a bad idea. Charlo made it clear from round one he just showed up to survive and then collect his check. Pitiful, pitiful showing. Bud would certainly get outpointed or knocked out, but I think he'd try, or at the very least turn in a better effort than that garbage we saw a couple weeks back. That said, I completely agree. Silly fight that doesn't need to be made, especially since there are more attractive prospects for both guys at their actual weight classes. So, given that this is boxing we're talking about, we should probably just go ahead and accept it'll be made at some point
He is looking for a payday while his delusional fanbase is high off the Spence win Imagine being stupid enough to think that beating Spence means that at 36 you will all of a sudden jump from 147 to 168 & beat the top guy there. This belongs in the same level of delusion as Canelo now jumping up to beat Opetaia I don't want to see such mismatches & if it ever happens, Canelo would maul & retire him Canelo would just walk through his punches, if GGG or Kovalev couldn't hurt him, Crawford will get 0 respect
Crawford is too damn small, I have zero interest in that fight. Hopefully it doesn't happen, but this is prize fighting so you never know.
Crawford is too small and lacks the power to trouble Canelo. The idea of coming up 3 divisions and fighting the best one there is ludicrous.
I agree it’d be a mismatch but not because of power or size but because of multiple god gifted advantages to go along with timing and distance.
''That female dog can't beat me with that last poop performance (against Juan Ryder)'' --Jermello He thought and was banking on Clenelo having slipped but he made a big miscalculation. People looked at Juan Ryder's record and assumed he was a bum but we don't breed bums in Great Britain. Our warriors put bums on seats and pack out arenas and stadiums But the ''lion'' transformed into a kitten as soon as he felt the weight of one of those Clenbuterol bombs Terry has fought a ton of featherfists and fighters with average power and very few legit bangers his own size and on one of the rare occasions he did he got dropped, by Mean Machine. So either he has a better chin than Jermello which there's no evidence of or he can try and follow Khan's blueprint by taking Clenelo to slick school, only for 12 rounds as opposed to 6, and not get clippe Even against Postol, and Terry was more nimble and mobile back then, where he was on his bicycle all night he still got hit. Granted he will have the speed advantage and Postol is probably faster than Clenelo but can he avoid those Clenbuterol bombs for a full 12 rounds? Another thing. Terry wouldn't just be trying to bridge a big weight gap - albeit I suspect it would be no more than about 10lbs on the night - he's also going to be trying to bridge a big class gap too because Clenelo is a much better than anyone he's fought.
I do agree that it will likely be a mismatch But that Doesn’t stop us from wanting to see it play out. Crawford wants a retirement score “PeyDey” That’s Understandable. while I do think he will put up a better fight then Jermell I don’t think he will go out on his shield like Spence. The reason I think that is because I remember how he fought in the last round against Postol. running around the ring sticking his tongue out & sh!t, that was a disgusting way to end his first PPV fight he clearly dominated … & one of the main factors he was never truly a PPV star.
Jermell saying at least he didn't get knocked out is the most female thing ever uttered in the sport.
The Charlo fight seems to have changed Crawford's mind at least temporarily not even his long time fans that defiantly promised a dominant win over Canelo have been seen since that fateful night.
It's silly, and that fight ain't gonna ever happen. Canelo/Charlo has at least seemed to calm a lot of this weight jumping like it doesn't matter chatter temporarily. Weight classes matter, they always have and always will. There simply aren't very many guys throughout history that can jump one weight let alone bypass multiple weights. Moving up gradually is one thing (Hearns for example)...............acting like you're gonna disregard and disrespect weight classes is another thing altogether
