It still is a degrading of the world title as it is not for the Lightweight Championship of the World. Vazquez and Figueroa would need to figure (as well) if we were to get a proper world title fight at 135lbs.

What it is, is a quality eliminator, where two of the four generally considered best 135lbers are fighting each other, with the winner having a legitimate claim to the title: Best 135lber in the world, if not quite yet the world title.

Gamboa was at 130lb when burns was WC and Burns could only beat who was put in front of him ,FW struggled to make the bigger fights with vasquez due to offering pish poor money and any talk of Broner at the time was a joke as Ricky was the champion at the time and Broners people wanted him to have champion money and ricky to accept a pittance when in real terms it should be an 80/20 split in the champs favour , FW has a nack of not getting his WC the bigger fights in there divisions much like cleverley he came up against kovalev as did burns against crawford ,Up untill that point they could only beat who FW could get for his **** poor offerings and the chance of getting bumped for wages i suppose ,

 

Altho I love the fight it cannot be denied that Gamboa at this stage is a calculated risk
