On a serious note, lets imagine a time when all fighters fought like these two...

AKA- "I'm not going to take the initiative and throw a punch. I can wait all day to counter and run. Want to stand there and wait to? Sure let's both wait and see who can withstand the boos and shame of appearing scared in front of a large crowd the longest"

Sorry for the rant but I feel it is a point well made...!

The thing is Crawford doesnt normally fight that way.
It did urk me that he decided to go saftey 1st on boxings largest stage but...**** it i wont buy anymore of his fights. He made his decision he won the fight but lost some fans. Good for Crawford

Fair point although I would call it something other than safety first. Perhaps spoiling?

It's not fair to give a fighter a reputation based on one or even a few occasions.

Both guys can lead or counter. But, I'd say Floyd would lead until he got Crawford to start coming forward. Then he would look to counter.

The only way Postol had a chance is if Crawford let him set his feet and land the jab. Which is exactly what Crawford managed to prevent Postol from doing. It was a smart strategy, and it worked.

To say that sums up Bud's style in general is extremely ignorant. Watch any number of his other fights.

I think if they fought it would be worse than watching paint dry. Honestly, can you remember the last time a fabled "slick" fighter was put in against another one and it being a good fight?

Promoters know this, hence why only one "slick" fighter is farmed, with avenues duly opened for him. He then becomes the one everyone wants to see beaten... Fair play to the guys but do they not feel any shame literally sitting there waiting for the other guy to make a move before committing an inch? I suppose money can buy your dignity. Postol stood like a statue at one point and Crawford simply stood there staring at him. You see Pac do it to Moneyman too- but aint no way gonna risk his face by taking the initiative.

    I am riled... :scaredas:

We may have to wait a few rounds for them to come within punching distance

I wanna say its Crawford's best interest to strike first and hopefully land something good...it takes Floyd a minute to get the timing and space down....best time to get him is early..ala Mosley....even Pac landed something early.

What makes boxing - and most combat sports, for that matter - interesting is the clash of styles and how they match-up. Styles make fights is probably one of the most widely used phrases in boxing history. Do you think they just invented that when Mayweather started fighting?

If it were as easy to be one of the best fighters in the game as just deciding to run away from your opponent, do you seriously believe there wouldn't be more people doing so?

To win a fight without KO or knockdowns you have to be better than your opponent in the 4 scoring criteria. Running away is not one of them and yet Crawford, Mayweather and fighters of that ilk barely lose a round. Why do you think that is?

They are better in the scoring criteria than their opponents - it is that simple.
