Well yes you would expect Crawford to beat an old Mayweather. Floyd knows his done. Nothing wrong with that.
Last night we learnt that mayweather can no longer pull the trigger. He lander 50% of power punches on a fighter he was just able to walk through and had to show no skill he didn't have to set him up or work angles or defend all he had to do was walk forward and throw power punches. The question is can of still do everything that made him the best i did not see him roll the shoulder of check hook or beat CM to the jab. He didn't have to. If last night is everything he has left then he would struggle against a top 10 atm but then again if he was up against someone with skill and stamina would he be able to fight his normal fight and not look like a powder punching ggg just walking forward and head hunting
Floyd for sure looked washed up. It was also his plan to not throw much the first few rounds and let Conner tire himself, but when Floyd was punching, he was missing and shots didn't look crisp. BUT, as the fight went on and the more Floyd threw the sharper he got. Floyd's reaction time isn't there like it used to be either, he was getting hit pretty clean at times from a guy that really had no business touching him like that. We all know it was a gloried sparring match though, but I give Floyd credit because he came forward the entire fight and it was conner backing up constantly. I've never seen Floyd fight that aggressively from rounds 7-10 nor come foward like that, but he knew he could. Conner was abit better than I thought he would be, the first few rounds kind of left you wondering if Floyd was completely and seemed like it was gonna be a close fight but that notion quickly went out the window as the rounds went on. Conner was absolutely gassed by round 8 too which only helped make Floyd look even better. But Floyd wouldn't last in there with an active champ right now (crawford, GGG, Thurman). That's for sure. But he's 40 so its not surprising.
But how would you deal with me bending you over and fisting the fvck oot yer arse for 10 rounds, Bufty boy.
Probably with a straight hand in your mouth and breaking a couple of your teeth. Plus, breaking your teeth would be funny as hell to do, I would enjoy it even more than putting your name in my ignore list, thing that I've jus already done.
Bud would beat Floyd pretty clearly, and I say that as someone who's favored Floyd against every one of his opponents going into the fights. There's no shame in it. Father Time's still undefeated. Guys like Hopkins, Floyd, and Wlad deserve a ton of credit for lasting as long as they did. Floyd was the only one to see the writing on the wall and adjust his matchmaking accordingly.
I thought Cotto also had the same common sense as Floyd until I heard him saying that he might fight the winner of the Canelo Golovkin last night after what I assumed was a ridiculously easy last fight.
So you expected Floyd to stay on the outside against a fighter with a longer reach? BTW One prime reason boxers back up is to preserve optimal punching distance when the other fighter tries to establish his own by advancing.
The reason Floyd didn't use the shoulder role is because Connors stupidly bragged about how he had prepared for it by fighting Southpaw. He also carelessly declared how he had carefully studied all of May's previous fights and knew all his weaknesses based those observations. So Mayweather cunningly did the unexpected in order to distance Connors from all that preparation by fighting in a way Connors had not expected.
The reason why floyd didnt use the shoulder roll is because it's not completely effective vs southpaws. And if connor or his trainer had half a brain they shouldnt have expected floyd to use it as much as he does usually vs orthodox fighters.
Connors said that he had not prepared to fight a Floyd who fought that way. His whole explanation along with his uncharacteristic performance lacks the compelling ring of authenticity.
