Regardless of the fact that he has been undisputed in 3 divisions, the names in his record that have led him to achieve those results haven’t been the best. In boxing, timing matters. Canelo was a declining fighter, and on top of that, his style was perfect for Terence. The fighters they’ve faced suit them stylistically. The real value of having big names on your resume is that you face a variety of styles that challenge you. That’s when you truly find out how great you are.
Look I really like Crawford and I rate him insanely highly, but the truth is his resume is pretty bad relative to his star status and ability. Hes probably has less than 3 fights in his career, and unless those are some major names, hes going to retire with one of the worst resumes ever for a p4p #1 fighter, imo. Boots, Ortiz and maybe someone like Fundora... would go a long ways at boostings Craws legacy, imo. But the chances we see those fights are probably slim.
Agreed. Weirdest career ever. Ive said this before, but if there was a pound for pound list for accomplishing the most while doing the least, he is #1 in boxing history by a landslide. Eye test passes every time though
Floyd's resume is full of big names but he fought the majority of them when they were well past their best so I agree with some of what you are saying. I just feel that Usyk has fought more dangerous fighters than Crawford has and he has done it on the road.
I agree with you even though I rate Bud as the best right now. I think whenever his career ends, his resume probably won't be looked at highly in hindsight. People will look at the very few amount of hall of famers and when he fought them. I think one thing that hurts Crawford is almost everyone he beat had no success after losing to Crawford. People will say for example that Floyd beat a past prime Pacquiao but at the same time, Pacquiao went on a run where he beat Bradley, Vargas, Broner, Thurman, and Matthysse after losing to Floyd. Became champion again multiple times. Became the oldest WW champion. Became a lineal champion. Pacquiao still accomplished things after losing to Floyd. With Crawford, Gamboa did nothing of consequence. Porter retired after the fight. Spence hasn't fought in years now. Indongo did nothing after losing to Crawford. What has Postol done? Madrimov lost his very next fight to Ortiz. Jeff Horn hasn't done anything as well. We'll see with Canelo but Canelo may even be done at the elite level now.
Crawford is better than Usyk, without a shadow of doubt. Crawford moves so well with fast hands. Even Usyk said Crawford is the best boxer in the world.
Bud is older than canelo and is the better fighter regardless, and bud has fought multiple different styles and stopped the vast majority of them
Come on man. As I stated in another post. If I use the same scope of critisim on Usyk's resume, I can make an argument AJ was knocked out by Ruiz, and he has not been the same since. Fury had a brutal trilogy with Wilder, in which he admitted, took a lot out of him. It was only after those wins, people really went in on Usyk being #1. The funny thing is, you and I agree that Usyk is #1, but it's not because Crawford fought bums, it's because Usyk is a damn good fighter and Crawford is right there with him. Crawford has a good case for the 1 spot as well.
FFS, not this kind of **** again. You know you can do that with just about. anybody's resume. Liston was ancient and had an injured shoulder Frazier won the FOTC Foreman hadn't properly conditioned himself to the Zaire climate Cooper almost KOd the man He lost to eight fight Leon etc, etc, etc, See what I mean? At this point, Bud is either the greatest or second greatest boxer in the game.
Fighters arent the same after they fight Terence Crawford So saying what they did after is misleading
