Don't have to be out of it for a boxer to get laid out by a local hardcase. In the village next to mine an ex British heavyweight champion was beaten badly by the local hardcase who happened to be a professional footballer.

Harry Greb was driving his car in Pittsburgh with a woman passenger and stopped for a red light. Five men surrounded the car ,not allowing the car to move. Harry Greb got out of the automobile and when the alerted police arrived, they found five men flattened on their backs...Greb was one tough dude in or out of the ring...

My mistake he wasn't British champion he was central area heavyweight champion. His name was Neil Malpass.

 

Carmen Basilio was in Pennsylvania doing a dinner engagement and decided to have a reasonably early night and went back to his hotel room,when he got there he couldnt get to sleep due to to the racket coming from the room above where someone was dragging furniture from one corner to another, on and on it went. He called reception.It still went on.He went to reception made them aware of his feelings.The noise persisted. So he had enough,got out of bed,got dressed, climbed the stairs ,pounded on the door and pitched into the young man who oppened it "If you dont quit making noise i'll kick the **** out of you" he went downstairs,got into bed and the noise was gone, he slept well the rest of the night.

Next morning at breakfast he was told the man he had to speak to was none other than Felix Trinidad. Basilio smiled and said "I'll tell you,if he hadnt quited down,I would have kicked the **** out of him,I was so annoyed."
