Looks more like an outside beef being handled in the ring. It’s still disgusting that any gym owner or coach would allow this type of behavior. I’ve seen videos of experienced pros giving sparring partners unnecessary amounts of punishment. This needs to be taken more seriously or the number of sparring fatalities will rise.

i'm in favour of hard sparring, the thing is the point of sparring is to learn not to knock the other guy out. When the guy was defenseless on the ropes there was no point of hitting him anymore unless you have a beef with him

Punching defenceless people in the back of the head makes you soft? Sure thing.

I get where people are coming from and normally I would agree, but without context its hard to judge imo. Like others have said, the reactions, the lack of ref interference, the energy, seems like it was a beef being settled with gloves. But ya, for just a thursday night sparring session, this would be unnaceptable lol.

James Kirkland has a sparring session that is one of the worst sparring's I think Ive seen for a top pro. Just beats the dude senseless. Lost respect for him after that.

That’s disgusting and just as disgusting that no one stopped it sooner.

Too true, I got battered pillar to post before the coach stopped the sparring, I can only imagine the pros having similar experiences before they made it big.

That guy should be charged with attempted murder. If you’re sparring you should know back of the head shots are extremely dangerous, one could very easily kill with one shot. It’s not about being soft it’s about safety. Get that dumb ass out of a boxing gym, so many stupid people out there

Lol, “point of sparring is to learn not to knock the other guy out”, have you ever been in a boxing gym?

You're a clown if you think the point is to knock the guy out. You spar to learn and practice, that's how it is in normal gyms. You should aim for knockouts in a real fight. two times two is four mf

Not the fact that he's continuing to hit him, not just after his legs have gone which is when they should've eased off, but when he's literally unconscious on his feet and he's continuing to hit him full force? What is anyone gaining from that?
