    So the people that say "PEDnelo" and "Clenelo" over and over again are the same people that get super sad when people say "lil G" or when I say "9G," is that right? Haha. Talk about a fan feud that somehow went next level.

    Golovkin was moving back to negate Canelo's attack. How many times did we see Canelo flail wildly at air trying to hit Golovkin? Plenty. And GGG didn't get trapped on the ropes. He either used lateral movement to reset the fight distance or moved back into range himself to re-establish the rythmn of the fight.

You only move backwards for two reasons, to hopefully avoid attack, or to create space to set up your own attack/traps. G moved backwards to help negate Canelos offense... yup.

    * G didnt get trapped on the ropes.

    None of that actually counters my post you are quoting.


    When Golovkin is the bigger fighter, whose style is a come forward break you down power puncher, whose gameplan going into the fight, and what his coach wanted him to do in the fight, was to 'fight with' Canelo if Canelo was going to come forward, but instead started backing up and trying to box off the back foot, if someone doesnt think Canelo himself dictated that, based on coming forward first, and that Golovkin boxing off the back foot was a reactionary adaptation to what Canelo was doing, then... it is what it is.

    Canelo pushed Golovkin back. Saying well G only moved back to avoid Canelos attack, and boxed off the back foot to try and control the range, doesnt negate that. It only goes to explain it.

    Well he couldn't win going forward on the judges scorecards in the first fight, so he tried another approach in the second fight..What a great fighter and so adaptable looking back

    The problem is that you are looking at the fight through a lense of prior expectations. Try looking at the fight as though you knew NOTHING about either fighter. There's one fighter that's throwing more, landing more, and landing the better shots and actually hurting the other guy. That fighter is Golovkin. That is why I have him the winner.

    I'll take the "Golovkin was supposed to slug with him and he didn't" narrative and raise you the "Golovkin is the champion and the champion should get the benefit of the doubt" narrative.
