Guys who lose, do better in rematches all the time. That's why there are trilogies. It doesn't necessarily mean Floyd could beat Castillo all the time. And rematches don't always tell the story of the fight. Like the Holyfield Lewis rematch.

If Castillos plan was so top notch he would have been able to do it a second time. Why do people think that trying to emulate Castillo 1 from ten years ago would work today when Castillo himself couldnt even make it work in an immediate rematch?

Anybody can say they're injured when they are putting on a bad performance

Or Holyfield was injured in the first fight with Lewis.

Or Williams was injured in the first fights with Quintata and Martinez.

Or Wlad was really drugged in the first Brewster fight.

Berto really wasn't "himself" in the Ortiz bout.

Ali was injured in the first Frazier fight.

DLH says his shoulder was hurt in the Floyd fight.

If you're injured, don't get in the ring. Otherwise many boxers aren't 100% healthy when they fight win or lose.

Or Williams was injured in the first Martnez and Quintata fights.

Or Holyfield was injued in the first Bowe and Lews fights.

Or Wlad was really drugged in the Brewster fight. Maybe something was up the other times he lost.

DLH stated his shoulder was injured in the Floyd fight.

Or Berto really wasn't "himself" in the Ortiz fight.

Anybody can say they're injured when they put on a perfomance not up to standard. If you're injured why fight and use it as an excuse? Once you get in the ring, no excuses. That's the punk way out.

listen when he's int he corner. He mentions his shoulder is hurting in the 1st round!
So I'm sure he didn't just use that as an excuse

Boxers are well known liars. Every last one of them are natural born liars. I can tell. Every bad performance or win...............straight !%$@!$!, liars. Injuries never happen in a fight just BEFORE fights. Hell, disappointing fans or even money isn't the reason to fight if injured. Skepticism, shmepticism. ****in liars.

You can get killed fighting with one arm or one leg. Would you go into a boxing match with Castillo only being able to throw a jab? That's why I think its bull.

Floyd haters are a stupid irrational bunch. That's why they have to resort to bringing up a close fight from so long ago which Floyd WON, and then beat the guy again for good measure in an immediate rematch.

Exactly. I don't know why Floyd did that. He could've gotten himself killed, but he's a ****in liar anyway. Hell, at least he survived, ****in liar.

i think the best thing to fight w/ is pressure. take floyd out of his game. if you box w/ floyd you lose. look at hatton utilizing the clinch. make it rough fight and don't give up room for him to work his magic

Why did he have Garcia massage his shoulder in the 1st round though?

So much is wrong in this thread I don't even know where to begin.

First the huge majority of rematches go the same way as the first match.

Second, castillo didn't create a blueprint to beat floyd because he couldn't repeat his success.

Third, guys go in the ring with injuries all the time, if they mention an injury before the fight it gets cancelled and they don't get paid.

To the thread, very hard to say. From what we've seen in the ring i'd say you just hope he doesn't age well. That being said we never saw him vs freitas, casa, tzyu or margo. Each of these would not have been a huge underdog at the time of the fight. Plus they'd give us more of a clue to how far floyd's talents go. He isn't as proven as some like to believe which is why he isn't a favourite in every fantasy matchup.

As for a stylistic breakdown i'd favour over him? Obviously someone who's better at what does should beat him. Not sold on pressure or a good jab being the key, I think it's someone who can adapt, I think you need a few strategies that last 4 rounds each so he never adapts.

It's hard to say, he looks great in the ring. If he has aged bad we'll know against ortiz.
