    Jem Mace is worth mentioning. Early in his boxing career he worked as a body guard. If a gentleman of standing wished to visit brothols in a bad part of town, they could hire him to protect them.

    The criminal gangs that targeted men of means, were both vicious and organised. They used weapons, attacked in large numbers, and frequently killed the people that they robbed.

    Jem Mace used to take them on with nothing more than his bare fists. If he was confronted with five men armed with kudgels, he just went through them with his bare hands. Usualy all he had to do was show them his pickled hands, and it would be enough to deter them.

    Mace was a local level fighter at the time, and one of many offering this service. It gives you some idea how dangerous the last generation of bareknuckle fighters were.

    I think that power is being way over rated here.

    It would be much less useful in practice than knowing how to throw a punch properly with a bare fist.

    Thats just the point though.

    He probably would beat up Mitch Green in a street fight.

    The size difference would mean less than it would in a boxing ring.
