"We know if you take creatine for 2-3 months you'll get a significant increase in lean body mass." That's an outright lie. Lol. What he says throughout this video is VERY misleading. Consuming creatine will not magically build muscle, it has nothing to do with building muscle. Creatine will give you a little bit of energy to train a slight bit longer, if you're lucky. What you do with that little bit of extra energy is up to you.

Don't forget, this is a video by bodybuilding.com to push their supplements. They're always going to bull**** it up to get that easy $$$ from the ignorant.

I get that most videos are not clinical studies. But if i posted clinical studies here, who would bother to read them? No one. You seem to have a pretty strong idea of the use or not of creatine for boxers. So i think for those interested here, you could find a video, that sums up your beliefs on the subject. Because just sitting there saying this or that is wrong because you say so, "because you did the research" isnt helping anyone. Just find a video that outlines your position and/or beliefs and people can make their own opinions from it.

Personally I wouldn't recommend it for boxers, but im no doctor or sports medicine guy. And
although there are performance benefits for boxers, IE; make you stronger and more explosive (when combined with training and diet), it will also add fluid to, and more muscle mass. Not helpful unless you are going up divisions)

I don't need to post or prove anything. With some very basic research (which he clearly hasn't bothered with) he'd know creatine is pretty much useless for boxers. I've told him roughly what the stuff does and he still carries on, making claims that water retention builds muscle or something ridiculous like that.

The guy asked a question, I gave a response. I've also stated multiple times that if he doesn't want to listen and still want's to waste his money then he should go ahead.

Just refer him to a simple video that politely presents your point. Why chest beat? Are you a sports medicine guru? Or just have an opinion formed by the bits youve read and the experience you had?

    Post a simple video mate..

Na. I don't have to. If people are old enough to use supplements they're old enough to use Google.

Mate, ive probably done as much research on Creatine as you. I know is puts weight on, if only more fluid in muscle... Not good IF YOU find it hard to make weight.

BUT.....that isnt everyone. If one just adds creatine and changes nothing else, you may only add 2kg (4lb) or less of 'scale weight'. If you were already making weight easily and the 4lb doesnt worry you, then creatine would definitely be something that boxer would consider. Creatine does have benefits for explosive sports like boxing. It also adds to ones endurance, recovery, brain repair and cognitive ability, and many other health benefits.

So, from on your high horse, you cant just sit there and say a blanket 'no, its no good for boxing' because that is not true in every case. Also, HEAVYWEIGHTS, need not worry about weight. Creatine definitely would aid these bigger athletes.

Either you know none of this, or you dont explain yourself very well.

With adequate training, unless they are in the minority of "non-responders" Creatine does make people more muscular.
It allows likely multiple extra reps, does contribute to water retention-the net effect of more volume + having that bulk in your muscle makes most able to get bigger & stronger than "clean".
Extra reps & more size, at first just water, does tend to add what I would call not entirely natural muscle gains. Even if less dramatic than effective steroid/HGH stacks.
All of which I am completely against for health & when illegal in sports, ethical reasons.

SHW lifters get relatively fat, because even more fat (to a point) allows you to move more weight.
Now whether that is necessary or good for boxing is another question.
Endurance & recovery-it is one of many ways they can be enhanced.
All effects + considering what you want to achieve must be taken into consideration.
The comments about whether you want to gain muscle or change divisions are instructive.
Increase braiaiain related ability? I do not know about that.

AND I do not believe it is good for you (bloating to start with) or entirely natural-because unlike another natural substance like protein, it is taken in a quantity that you could never get from diet.

Depends on how much you take, how much protein you have, (powders etc). Not every person finds creatine effective. Not every athlete that DOES find it effective records fluid retention. Not every athlete necessarily takes the same dosage (3=5gm)

Creatine hydroxide (?) tends to give athletes less water retention, as against creatine monohydrate.

If one is interested in giving it a go... just do it. Do some research, find what works or doesnt. IMO, and this is not medical advice, and im no doctor. But id try not to put on much weight by take only 3gm (low dose), do not take a protein powder, just stick to your normal diet, and training routine, see if it makes any difference? It should take about a month before your muscles are saturated.

I mentioned non-responders. But most can get some benefit.
I believe it does give extra fluid in the muscles, at least in higher doses-although some may not have or notice it in the belly.
I am uninterested in getting bigger or stronger now.
But I do not like anything where you take more than you could get naturally.
The only time it might be hard to eat as much protein as you could benefit from is those who are gaining unnaturally from steroids or HGH & their potentiators.

Doesn't make much of a sense as a topic.

Those supplements are good, but will give you more mass, better recovery, while it's better to work on cardio endurance, being leaner when it comes to boxing. Even so, they won't harm.

Creatine can give a bit more strength, will make you retain more water, so you'll gain like, depends on the person, but 2-3-4 kilos that you'll loose after you stop it. It's ok. I used it for a month last summer, gained 2-2.5 that I wanted to lose and lost after that.

Stick to proper food, sleep and training regime and don't waste money I'd say.

You get more strength and size within weeks (if you've never taken it and take 5 to 10 mgs a day you'll notice your lifts going up in a very noticeable way after a month).

I'm not sure about the benefits for boxers. I'm not convinced just how efficacious heavy musculature really is on a boxer...at least on the average.

I lift quite a bit..but I was always more of a Foreman-style bomber. I already know how to get maximum torque out of my punches, so the extra mass makes sense mathematically. But I can only throw so many heavy missiles before the gas runs out, all a good boxer has to do is hang in there for the heaviest shots and he's got me.

So, I concur with others here, re unless you're trying to gain some quick muscle within a month or so, I'm not sure creatine is relevant at all in the context of boxing.
