Thats crap. The only bad thing about Creatine is it will make you retain water. Other than that its just a placebo if you ask me. The only real good Creatine are the drops you put under your tongue. The ones you mix with water are full of crap.
Creatine is more suited to body building because your muscles reatain water. You will look bigger whilst using it but also be heavier due to reataining water. You should only use creatine in 6 weeks cycles because its really bad for your kidneys. So for a boxer in my opinion its useless. For a body builder it can be useful if used correctly.
i know leading up to a competition body builder will basically cut out drinking fluids or drink the bare minimum so they can be dehydrated and there for give them a more ripped look, but thats the reason they use creatine in cycles, because of the muscle retaining water and can use it out of competition to enhance there training for a 6 week burst for example.
They dont cut out drinking fluids. They'll reduce there fluid intake around the day of the competition but they'll only be on water and nothing else. Creatine cycles are pointless in BB because the gains are virtually non existent. Creatine is for endurance. BB dont care about endurance. They need size and quality mass. You can gain that from supplements diet and training. Creatine is better for runners and sports requiring aerobic activity.
you make sense about a runner using it, the weights gym i trained at alot of body builders used creatine there, but in saying that they wernt competitve body builders.
No competitive BB wastes there time with it. To be honest i wouldnt even advise it for gym enthusiasts. Its nothing more than a placebo.
Creatine plays a role in the ATP/CP cycle, if anyone benefits it would be weightlifters or am I off here :?
Negative over. If this was a sport of endurance then yes. BB is about symmetry quality of mass, muscle depth and maturity, striation and a host of other aesthetic factors. The ATP-CP cycle is not a very efficient system for providing energy. Its components are in such short supply that it can only be the primary energy contributor for less than 10 seconds. The ADP not converted back into ATP directly begins to accumulate in the muscles, and can combine with glucose to produce energy through the glycolysis process.
From what articles and studies I have read creatine has no significant effect for endurance athletes as creatine is meant to assist the ATP-CP cycle by giving it's phosphate molecule to ADP and turning it back to ATP to be used again. Endurance athletes would never rely on the ATP-CP cycle as their main energy system as it is usually depleted in a matter of seconds where the body then switches to the lactic acid system where glycogen stores are then used and then eventually switching to the normal aerobic system where glycogen and oxygen are used before then finally switching to body fat. I would regard bodybulding as an activity where energy is used in short bursts so the ATP-CP cycle along with the lactic acid system are the main energy systems.
Good points. But all rather academic as BB's dont use Creatine. My views on it are purely from my own experiences.
