Credit to Calzaghe, he has proved he absolutely fearless by not facing Pavlik.

Calzaghe has stated Pavlik isn't ready. It seems as though he is saying "Come back when you are at the very peak of your powers Kelly." Not only is he trying to give Pavlik as big of an advantage as possible, he is doing the same for Roy Jones, by fighting Jones before Roy has time to age anymore.

Joe Calzaghe is absolutely fearless, here he is deliberately making his next few fights as difficult as possible. To make things easy on himself he could take on (pre-prime?) Pavlik now, while he is still only 36, then take on an extremely old Jones 6 months later. This would be easier, but that is not Joe Calzaghe. He wants to take on absolute prime Pavlik when he himself is a decrepit old man, just to prove his greatness, yet again.

So...you are back hyping a Calzaghe v. RJJ fight, I see...

    ...so, it's happening?

Why isn't Calzaghe fighting Pavlik? Or is he? Is this just Calzaghe negotiating more money from Pavlik?

esb on the calzaghe v pavlik threads is more like a political debate with who can waffle and spin the most .

and if the fight does take place , afterwards you just know there will be loads of scott mcclllen`s telling us they were only saying this and they new this or that would happen in hindsight.

CHJ is making a joke stating Joe wants Pavlik to get better while he just gets older? This is the famed CHJ 'elitist humor' so many kiss his ass about? :huh

    :rofl :rofl :rofl

    1. Then why did he fought Kessler, Manfred, Lacy?

    2. Is Mayweather also fearless? Because he always says Cotto isn't ready.

I am actually quite serious mate. He is genuinely taking the most difficult path, probably in pursuit of money (which is a shame). But he is showing no fear regardless.

I'll give you that if he fights both Jones and Pavlik but it seems that he wants only one more fight and then retire. If he fights Jones and retires that makes him far from fearless.

Manfredo is the fight that got the TV people on board, and helped make the superfights. Calzaghe fighting Manfredo is the exact same as Mayweather vs Oscar. Only Calzaghe won via early TKO whilst Mayweather just managed (a harsh admittedly) SD over his soft fame building opponent.

So, you consider Jones to not be "extremely old" right now, but he would be in 6 months? The most dangerous opponent for Joe to take as of this moment, would suddenly become extremely old, without fighting mind you, over the course of 6 months? Dude, Jones is extremely old right now. Take the laundry out of the spin cycle.

He's also giving Pavlik more time to move up in weight.

Yes, an Olympic Bronze Medalist who was undefeated up until he met Pavlik is a "US stiff". Makes perfect sense now, being Byron Mitchell had billboards all along Time Square before facing Calzaghe - being he was the second coming of Jesus Christ...

After saying he wasn't interested in fighting RJJ because both Tarver and Johnson KO'd him, he fights Hop and realizes .. I'm not as good as I had convinced myself .. better fight Roy ... hope he's shot ... he still might kick my ass ... time to retire ... maybe after collecting this paycheck if Roy makes me look terrible ...
