Credit to Calzaghe, he has proved he absolutely fearless by not facing Pavlik.

if he doesnt retire and fights pavlik i will call him fearless, but if he dont, he is a chicken ****. i have respect for cal, maybe he is the best fighter of the past 10 years, but he needs to fight pavlik.

Actually, the trollish OP is quite right. If Joe ever does plan on fighting Pavlik, now is the time. Joe will only get older and Kelly will only get better.

So, it's likely Calzaghe will never fight Pavlik if it isn't his next fight. It's already risky, but it'll only get worse the longer he waits. (This would all be negated of course should Pavlik loses to someone else in the meantime.)

Well, you might get a few select morons who'd try and use that as an excuse, but anyone with half a brain would give him full props for beating Pavlik.

Hilarious that you just made a post a few days back saying Calzaghe would get beat by Pavlik if they fought now.

(something I totally disagreed with you btw)

If it is about money then he fights Pavlik before he vacates. Simple as that. Those straps still have commercial value, like it or not. Jones can have the left overs. If there are any.

I only stated that there was no way Calzaghe would destroy Pavlik.

Doubt that past a certain level.

Hopkins v Calzaghe wouldn't have made more money if BHop had a LHW strap, Mayweather v Hatton wouldn't have been a richer fight if Floyd had more than one belt, Pacquiao v Barrerra or Morales didn't seem to suffer for being non-world title fights, etc.

Title matches are still a big sell. Why else would the boxers be paying the fees to keep them? Again, they have commercial value. As of now it would be a BIG selling point to the general public. Later on? It isn't just hard core fans that buy tickets and PPV. In fact most of the money comes from the hype.
