Floyd Mayweather Jr. deserves all the credit in the world for fighting Victor Ortiz, he is doing something that Manny Pacquiao won’t do, and that is fighting a hungry young fighter with a pulse.
Most of Manny Pacquiao’s opponents are over the hill fighters with big names and are just there to collect a pension. Joshua Clottey was never heard from again after collecting several million dollars to be a human punching bag to Pacquiao; Shane Mosley was running and not even throwing punches at Pacquiao. How can anyone say that Manny Pacquiao is fighting a challenging opponent when almost all of them are handpicked and there just to collect a check?
I have nothing against Pacquiao as a person, but I have every right to criticize him as a boxer, as a boxer he is horrible, he is sloppy with no technique and his decision to face shot fighters and Floyd Mayweather’s leftovers is what makes his legacy questionable. As a person I commend Manny for helping his people and he seems like a genuinely nice guy, but that doesn’t matter to me, what matters is what a fighter does in the boxing ring.
The truth is Manny Pacquiao has never fought a fighter who was considered dangerous or in their prime coming off an amazing win record. Juan Manuel Marquez just fought a cab driver who pretended to be knocked out in the first round, this fight was sham to hype up Marquez. Don’t get me wrong Juan Manuel Marquez is an excellent boxer, but he is no longer the same fighter after Floyd Mayweather destroyed him. If Pacquiao struggles with Marquez at this stage in his career, it just shows you that Manny isn’t as great as the media claim, he won’t be able to touch Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Mayweather only wants to fight the best and Victor Ortiz is a dangerous challenge for him. Boxing fans should give Mayweather a lot of props for giving a young champion the chance to prove himself. Coming from a long lay off he is fighting a hungry fighter who is ten years younger than him and bigger than him. Manny Pacquiao wouldn’t dare step foot in the ring with a vicious fighter like Ortiz, this isn’t false because Pacquiao even admitted that Ortiz was bigger and stronger than him and told him over the phone before his fight with Andre Berto.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. is only hated for his personality and that’s what is so funny, take away his persona, and you cannot doubt his greatness and legacy. Floyd is the greatest boxer today, he is also the biggest star in boxing and if you disagree with it, you either don’t know about boxing or you are just a hater.
For those Pacquiao fans out there, name a young prime fighter coming off an amazing win streak that Manny Pacquiao has fought recently…………………I’m waiting……What’s that?…………..Oh That’s right…..You can’t name one!

Is this the same Ortiz who got destroyed by Maidana? Sounds like a safe fight for FMJ to me.

    Pacquiao - I believe - is on PED's

You dont go up every weight division and start knocking out Cotto and battering Margaritos

FMJ - would batter Pac to a UD. This is a fact, anyone who doesn't think this, I have no time for because you know nothing about boxing.

    here we go again....

De la Hoya - weight drained
    Hatton - spent force
    Clottey - C+ fighter
Cotto - damaged goods after Margarito and a crap fight with Clottey
Margarito - Battered by shane, damaged
Mosley - battered by floyd, damaged

    Pac fights people who are:

    Floyds leftovers
    Damaged goods
    Weight drained
made to fight at a weight not suited to them

FREDDIE ROACH ADMITS TO THIS IN EVERY INTERVIEW

    This is a fact

Everybody is a cherry to Manny because he is the greatest of our era.
You would need the all time greats to give him a fight above 140.
he is simply cut from a different cloth.
There are still pieces of Hatton left in las vegas.
Margarito, Cotto, Oscar, Clottey, Barerra, JMM, Morales - they know he is the GOAT of the last 25 or so years.

What a load of nonsense. Not so long ago Ortiz was considered to be nothing special and lacking heart - then he beats 'ATG' Berto and now he's suddenly the most dangerous man in the division. Don't believe the hype. No disrespect to Ortiz, I think he's a good fighter, but certainly not on a level with Mayweather or Pac, or even JMM for that matter. And you will see, after Floyd easily beats him, he will be considered nothing special again..

As for Pac, I think he cherry-picked some of his past opponents (Margarito, Mosley, Clottey), but JMM is man who gave him hell twice and who has the right style to always give him trouble. JMM arguably beat Pac once, and he hasn't notably slipped since then in my book, so Pac is taking a big risk here.
