    If he took the knee. It's possible that he might not have stood up and cortez could have stepped in and stopped the fight. i think it was better that he just tied maidana up to finish the round.

    Cortez was on Khan's side. Maidana's face look untouched, but Khan looked like he had been through a meat grinder! Cortez took a point for an imaginary elbow!

    Possible......He was on ***** street for sure. But he was able to keep on his feet after the intial punch and then went on to eat about 10 or 12 additional shots that took a lot out of him....shots he wouldn't have had to take had he taken a knee.

    But yea....I see your point...it's VERY hard to get up even from one knee when your equilibrium is off balance. Given the fight was a championship fight I'm sure Joe wouldn't have waived off the fight if Khan showed enough sense to take a knee.

    Khan at this stage of his career is not as composed and cool under that kind of pressure like a Floyd mayweather. He was dazed and in panic mode...his instincts told him to cover up.... It's a learning experience and I'm sure he'll be better having gone through that.
