He took his loss with class.

I hope his fans will do the same and abandon the bull**** excuses. Martinez won with movement and speed.

Hope Kelly heals and comes back strong.

I think he would do much better with better a better corner.

martinez followed the hopkins gameplan of circling around the bomb thrower... and carving him before he could set and throw the blast.

his jab was nothing...not even a setup for the bomb... he should have led with the left hand out...to target the quick mover.

valiant fight by pav none the less and I hope we get to see a reconditioned pavlik in a rematch.

Was a bit sad seeing him at the end. No doubt his dickwad fans will be bitter as hell and sore losers, despite writing Martinez off as trash.

Classy interview, way classier than how he acted after the Hopkins fight. Pavlik is a tough guy with heavy hands, but Juan Diaz syndrome with the cuts and limited athleticism is not a good combo to have against a sharp punching technician like Martinez.

Sergio Martinez showed a TON of guts in there tonight. Seeing the much smaller man take the fight away with such authority was special.

Maravilla actually deserved every bit of the sweetness of this win after all those bad decisions.

    Martinez was spectacular, no doubt.

But I guess the point of this thread is that someone who hasn't exactly been a Pavlik fan (me) has gained respect for him. I hope Kelly is OK and has done well with his money.

He might even win a rematch.

But if he goes up to 168, he's finished. He'll get destroyed.

He obviously cant make MW anymore but what chance does he have at super middle? If he faced Ward or Dirrell he'd get another similar schooling probably even knocked out

    :deal

He should skip 168 and fight 175 other then Dawson he'd do well. Maybe he could add some muscle, being that emaciated isn't a good look.

Classy in defeat, very good to see.

He'll be back, but he has a few things to work out. Cuts killed him, but them's the breaks.

Yeah, he did show a lot of class. He's my wifes new favorite fighter because of his interview.

I have always like the guy, it's a shame that his fans frive me to root against him more often than not.

Pavlik seems like decent guy but he just looked like he had no speed or tools in there. Bute for example seems to throw a really quick, tight, powerful punch. Also, where Williams seems naturally wirey, Pavlik looks like a big guy who doesn't eat.

I got you, Lamps. But what do you propose he do at this point? He is clearly killing himself trying to stay down there at '60. I think the guy needs to move up, but the problem is, there's trouble everywhere he goes.

One of the excuses for the Hopkins loss was that he was too big for Kelly. Now here comes Martinez, a natural Junior Middleweight, and pummels him down the stretch probably even worse in the rounds he won. Sergio was so much smaller in there.

Guess Kelly just has to try to "swim without getting wet" at this point. But I think he and his team will probably get things sorted out. :-(

Sure. Still a good fighter too. Martinez really was on his A+ game and I'm glad he finally got his big win after many obscure opponents followed by a robbery draw and an extremely close loss with his two biggest name opponents. This is a sweet one for him but a bitter one for Kelly, who still took it better than the Hopkins loss.
