Credit to Rees and Lockett

Fantasticly put. Rees gave it everything, even Broner was admirable and respectful and called him tough as an "overcooked steak". Lockett did the right thing though, Gavin was getting badly beat up and it was becoming hard to watch. How that fat twat Dan Rafael said it was stopped too quick is beyond me, the fat nonce needs banning from every boxing event ever held.

Rees deserves all the credit in the world, that first knock down was ****ing brutal, absolute peach of a punch. Would have knocked so many fighters spark out but Gavin jumped back up and came right back, a true lion. Unfortunately it's all about levels and Broner proved he's on just a completely different level to everyone else. He beats anyone at 135 or 140 IMO, those uppercuts were ****ing amazing. So accurate and crisp. Wasn't a believer before this fight, I am now though.

Rees is a true warrior, hard as **** and would have kept going until the very end. Hope he comes back to Britain and has some more well-paid domestic bouts, he deserves that. Well done to them both.

 

He done himself proud he fought well landing some clean shots even though he was stopped i didnt expect him to be as competitive as he was going by the crowds reaction he won himself some US fans aswell.

 

Gavin was just out his league. He certainly didn't come to just pick up a paycheck. It'll be tough for him to keep fighting after the beating he took tonight. I truly believe he felt was going to win tonight.

 

Rees was a world title challenger on HBO and ranked 6 by Ring magazine. His performance was not good enough.

The post-fight analysis and reaction made me want to vomit. Gavin Rees deserves better than that.

 

I agree with this. His US tv interview VS his UK one made him appear two faced, telling each what he thought they wanted to hear.

Broner is like some Wayan brothers caricature, and his playing up just made him look like he was thick. He speaks like Chris Tucker too which doesn't help.

Rees went up a lot in my estimation.

I remember Locket's totally feeble "fight" against Pavlik, didn't even try, even if you know you are going to lose, at least show some balls and heart.

Then Jennings against Cotto, give it a little go, got praised to the high heavens for being "brave" etc.

Same thing last night. Rees did okay, didn't embarrass himself but the idea that he did anything brave or courageous beyond what is actually needed to step into the ring, is a fallacy.
