Judah is not completely inept. He would have the skills to get by a limited fighter such as Espana. Zab would have free reign to move about & fight his style. Espana doesn't put the kind of pressure like Baldomir. Zab by 12 round decision.
espana was a solid welter who had the misfortune to meet a prime quartey. zab is a superior talent, but lacks focus. espana has great numbers........but the names he actually beat are not impressive. taylor was shot, so was boucher (and not that impressive to begin with). and that aguilar he beat had seen his best days at lightweight. judahs resume is far better!!! so unless judah comes in totally flat, he should have little trouble getting a ud.
Espana was a brutal puncher and very technically skilled as well as a huge Welterweight. He'd be quite a bit bigger than zab and would wreck him from the outside. Remember Quartey was behind in that fight when he pulled it out.
first off, the fight with quartey was even when it ended. and he was 5´10, a good hight for a welter, but hardly huge!!! hearn, williams, blocker and breland........they were huge for welter. but not espana. and a brutal puncher???? sure, he has a high ko percentage.........but those ko´s came mostly against unkowns. who was the best guy outside of taylor, who was shot, who he stopped?? The only "good names " on his list are : Luis santana, rodolfo aguilar, donovan boucher and ike quartey. he couldnt stop santana in 12 rounds. he couldnt stop aguilar in 12 rounds. and he needed 10 rounds to stop boucher, who a)nothing special to start with and b) done by the time he met espadas (he qualified for the shot be getting ko´d in three rounds by not exactly hard hitting emmon loughran). so what took him 10 rounds to pull of the stoppage??? so calling him a puncher is not really valid. judah is much faster and has a better punch. if judah is on, espana has little chance.
Well limited to U.S. boxing fans, He did not have much exposure in America. & did not fight the top Welters of the time. Curry, Starling, Leon, Breland, McCrory. If Espana had defeated any of these fighters he might have been held in higher regard. Baldomir's advantage over Judah was his ability to fight on the inside, which is a terrible weakness for Judah. Espana liked to fight at a distance. the quicker Judah would flourish in a fight like this with his faster handspeed. And use his defensive skills to avoid the powerpunches of the slower Espana. To capture a UD over Twelve rounds.
But espana was a much better technical boxer-puncher than Judah. Zab is vastly overrated imo, so i couldn't care less about anyone going through Espana's record etc. as this is no top notch welter we are comparing him to here. Judah doesn't use his speed very well and Espana was hardly slow.Maybe zab wins the first two rounds.Then he gets creamed. Not that Espana was awesome, but rather Judah really does pretty much ****ing suck. Espana was on about the level of a Yuri Arbachakov as a technician.That's more than good enough to brutalise any version of Judah.
