He was also kind of lucky he got a washed up Meldrick Taylor on his resume though.

Still he was a good fighter and he was neck and neck with Quartey when he was stopped, which is no mean feat as Quartey was a beast in the mid 90's.

He was OK. Not great, but a solid fighter.

I got to see probably his best win (Taylor) a solid fighter, who made the most of what he had, but was never going to set the world on fire.

He looked pretty damn good beating up Taylor. I was surprised when he lost to Bazooka, as at that time I had not heard of Ike. Kinda of surprised I never really heard from him again after the loss to Ike. Anybody know how he did after the Ike fight?

He gave up fighting. I know he had a lot connections with Venezeulan boxing and training youths, I would like to think that is what he ended up doing.

I think the feeling was he was going into the Ike fight as the underdog and it was not a great shock he lost. Like I stated he had his limits and was not quite in Quartey's league. He did look good beating Taylor, but Meldrick was a shadow of the fighter who stepped into the ring in the late 80s.

Crisanto was more than just a decent fighter , he was unbeaten for 10 years picking up the WBA title on the night Lennox beat Razor Ruddock on Hallowe'en 1992 battering Meldrick Taylor then defending against good solid fighters like Donovan Boucher from Canada , on the Benn v Eubank card in Manchester England .. He plastered Boucher who was a force in truth around that time , a solid Don King welterweight.. His loss came to a very exra ordinary Ike Quartey and that was no disgrace after 10 years as a pro.. He lived a very spartan life in Belfast Ireland and lived ate and breathed boxing miles away from his home in Venezuela. He was a true warrior.. and a hell of a nice feller..

Espana was beating quartey and looked the better fighter when he foolishly put himself in a bad positiojn by the ropes and was stopped by the less skilled and one-dimensional african.

Always wondered why he did't keep fighting as he was right in the mix at the time and could have won a rematch.

Ike Quartey wasn't one dimensional and I had Quartey up by a point at the point of the stoppage.

He was supposed to be a super talented runner and had already posted a great time in the marathon. Never found out his time and it seems he never took up the vocation full time.

I think of him as they guy who beat Meldrick Taylor, not that it's saying much because Taylor was a wreck that night.
