It looks like Diamante means business! It's still not clear if he's capable of putting on beautiful counter-centric boxer-puncher displays like the pre-Darchinyan version, but this steamroller version, at least against a green and outgunned pinoy, looks ready for action. I bet he'd like a Vic rematch about now as much as Vic wants his with Donaire and Agbeko. That^ Mijares KO2 the Darchinyan that fought Rojas.
Would Nongqayi be a step in the right direction? :think Two confidence-padding KO wins ought to be enough to try and start putting in the work to right the ship and get back to world title level.
I do not know if this is in the right direction. Mijares is known to have no power and he is trying to be a slugger? He is good with what he was doing but he is one of the most overrated here in ESB after winning against Arce, of all people.
Well, yes and no. He went from "complete unknown" when he probably deserved to be on people's radar to "overnight sensation" thanks to the Arce fight. He was hyped, but it isn't as though he isn't world-class. He's just not the world-beater many of us perceived him to be during his really good run. He's like Kessler - a terrific fighter who can look great against a slew of styles, but not all - there are some styles that are just going to be poison for both guys and they both finally ran into those. The primary difference is judges always like Kessler (he virtually never lost a round before Calzaghe) and hated Mijares (he had split decision wins in fights he absolutely dominated). :yep As for the heightened aggression, time will tell. He's not feather-fisted, it's just that his skillset didn't lend itself to looking for the KO. Obviously his mission of late has been to blow out these guys he's supposed to blow out and build his confidence back up. Leaning toward more of a brawling style might actually work for him, as long as his punchingt technique remains fluid and he doesn't get sloppy when he begins to step back up to better opposition.
Downloading the figtth right now. Had a chance to dl highlights of the Vidal fight but missed it. At 118 he can still be a force.
