I always get the impression that there are some posters here that fought amateur or even some pro that like to believe had they kept training they would have developed skills similar to Mijares. They seem to favor 'boxing' over 'fighting' so they would favor some one like Mijares. They are as valid a boxing fan as anyone else, they just prefer a different type of boxer.

YEP, you just said it!!!!!....... anyways , THEY claim it's computer based.... hard to believe a program (any program) would consistently have Cotto, Calderon, Juanma (currently) among many others at certain times, to be out of not only the top 10, but the top 25:admin!!!???!?!??!? BTW, I have noticed how they always try to put Margarito ahead no matter what, not to mention they left Vazquez (and Rafa Marquez) after a year layoff, which goes against their own rules..... I've written them many times about this , to no avail... last time I asked about the Vazquez incident, but coincidentally they were in the process of "revising it"... isn't it computer generated?? If you're mexican your chances of being there are more than generous, ask Manny Pacquiao , who's considered by most the P4P #1 but he's still behind Marquez over there... of course they have Bhops & SSM ahead, u don't wanna make it "that" obvious for ignorant people like you, maybe?? just maybe.. Then again I might be too much into conspiracy theories!?!?:yep Boxrec's list is a fraud and they are doing a very bad job at trying to disguise it with their "comp. generated" excuse and their bogus math formula to produce it!!!!! Fuc***g JOKE!!!

Damn, already? His career went downhill fast after Darchinyan. Still remember that smurk on his face before the fight.

Cristian Mijares announced its retreat The Mexican 'said not more'

MEXICO - The pugilist lagunero Cristian Mijares announced his retreat after to be defeated by the Venezuelan one Nehomar Cermeño, in fight by the title temporary rooster of the World Association of Boxing (AMB) celebrated in this city.

    Will not change its decision

"Right now my decision is to withdraw me, one must talk it with my family. It is my third rout, I think right now that what more one must do, I prepared me as never, I sacrificed me, I suffered, I cried, an impressive physical condition that showed in the fight" asserted.

Mijares said that will be difficult to change his decision because he sees that its family suffers and that before it for him he is better to leave to one side the boxing in a final way.

"Right now I am happy with my family, I see them as they suffer and right now that I have children I give me account like they suffer they, then is very difficult to back out to my decision of the retreat", asserted.

The lagunero, who the night on Saturday failed in his second I try by snatching him the title to Cermeño, said that there is not you excuse on the battle and that simply the South American one was a superior that in the quadrilateral.

He added that the courts that suffered in the eyebrows, that of the left on account of a butt, yes they affected him but reiterated that no pretext exists, "I am a good loser".

WOW! I Respect his decision but what a waste. The guy needed a better trainer and who knows he probably lost to a very talented fighter...I would do anything do be in his situation and hes just gonna let it go to waste huh.

He'll come back. He's only like 27. I think he just needs a long break and get the hunger back. Seriously doubt he would ever reach the same heights he has in the past but he'll come back

Right, because the fate of the world hinges on the boxrec rankings. I'm sure there's that much time and effort going into this sinister plot by people volunteering their time pretty much for free.

    :-(

Its sad to see him go, but if he feels its time, and training and sacrifice don't cut it anymore what else is there but to be close to his family.

Cristian Mijares was a brilliant fighter and unified a division for the first time in decades. His spot as a top 10 pound for pound fighter was rightfully deserved. But his fall was rather quick.

Have a great life champ. :smoke

I really enjoyed the navarro fight as well as the munoz fight. I was on the Mijares bandwagon for sure. I'm not sure what went wrong...

His win against Navarro was very impressive. I thought he would outbox Darchinyan but he is obviously not strong enough. I guess Darchinyan really destroyed him.
