I would have Mijares winning a comfortable UD. Montiel although explosive, often leaves himself open when coming forwards, and sometimes ends up off balance. A good boxer/counter puncher could definitely capatilise on this. Bad match up stylistically for Montiel IMO.

Arce and Montiel are a little bit similar fighters. Both throw ridiculously hard hooks and short punches. I think Montiel might be a little more versatile offensively but Arce I think edges him out in power maybe. But look at what Mijares did to Arce...He beat the living **** out of Arce I mean it was like no contest. It could be a harder fight for Mijares because Montiel throws some nice ass feints and its ultimately a different fighter but I still think Mijares edges him out.

Montiel is less limited than Arce, but he has a lot less power, weaker punch resistance, less stamina, and I would say he's mentally weaker. Arce and him are on the same level and have somewhat similar styles. Mijares would own Montiel like he owned Arce, but I doubt Montiel would be able to take as much punishment as Arce took. He'd be getting hit less than Arce, but even 80% of that punishment might be too much for him. Mijares stopping Montiel would depend on whether Montiel suffers cuts early or not and how he would react when he's down by a lot of points late in the fight. If he went all out and opened up completely to try to go for the KO, I think he'd get stopped.

Montiel would have a good chance to beat Mijares. Mijares was in a fight last night. He would get more from Montiel.:smoke :smoke

Montiel by UD. Montiel has very good legs, so Christian will not be able to do same gameplan as in Arce and Kawashima fights.
