I know that he has lost his last two fights, but what is the deal with this guy? He looked like a textbook master boxer with massive confidence. Did he lose everything the night he lost to Darchyan, or can he still make an impressive run? It would be sad to see the talent go to waste.

i dont think its that complicated, i think he just wasnt as good as everyone (myself included) thought he was

his pre-darchinyan performances "flattered to deceive" to a certain extent and he has that classic boxer style that technical fans of boxing (ie the writers who form the media) love

I didn't see his last fight, but I see it was another typical Mijares SD with a wide ass margin of difference, just with him on the losing end of it. Has anyone seen it and scored the fight themselves?

featherfisted. When he faces an opponent who walks through his punches, then no matter how tactically proficient you are you will eventually get hit.

He bought into his own hype. I think he will bounce back. Maybe not as high as before but he'll bounce back nevertheless.

The problem with Mijares is, he was coming into the ring against Darch WAY to overconfident. I read somewhere one of his fans saying darch wont win a round and all that nuthugging. Anyway I think the schooling he received he was not expecting nor was ready for, I honestly think Darch messed him up bad, probably ruined him.

Vic probably ruined him to be honest...Only people with a lot of mental fortitude come back from a beating like that in their prime.

He still is one of the better overall technicians in the game...this will probably see him float around in the fringes for a long time if he hangs around..I have my doubts he will ever come back to wear he was though.

He was an absolute legit P4P-er, no shame in losing to a ring great like Vic Darchinyan, who was pretty underrated based on one singe loss. Of course, there no shame in losing to Nonito Donaire.

I don't think we were over our head when we said Mijares is one of the best technician out there, and he had a great run. I'm afraid Vic ruined him mentally and physically, altough many think he beat Cermeno for the BW title (lost the decision), but he wasn't the same.

He KOd a very good Kawashima in Japan, totally schooled a prime Arce, beat the underrated Navarro, unified vs. a very good Munoz (who upset division champ Nashiro), and stopped former lineal FlyW champ Sasakul in 3.

He showed the skills to be named among the best technicians and had the resume to back his P4P#7 ranking up. He wasn't better or worse than that.

Since his loss to Vic his greater nuthugger Amsterdam disappeared from the forum, maybe he was to ashamed that did not want to comeback here anymore. He was a very regular poster here.

I think he can fight Nonito and a win can upheld his lost over Darchi. but that is a very
    difficult fight for him.

From what I heard, his last fight was controversial loss. Didn't saw it, but Mijares has bad luck to judges, who score against him even when he clearly leads the fight (Navarro, Munoz)

I saw a shitty copy of it...It may still be up on the net somewhere.

He opened up a pretty clear lead early, the version I saw were missing some rounds but the other dude was finishing stronger..The guy he was facing was pretty unskilled..strong and hardnosed but raw as..I think that awkwardness put Mijares off a bit, he was on the defensive a lot but it generally was effective.

From the rounds I scored..which were like 9 completed rounds I had Mijares up 5-4 I think...Maybe the other gus won those other rounds, maybe not Im not sure...Plus the version looked like someone had filmed with a video camera off the T.V and uploaded it..so it was hard to see exactly what was landing all the time. Cristian didnt look very confident in there to me.

I still think he deserves credit for the Munoz win, albeit a split decision. I think Darchinyan has exposed a guy I did rate highly, though. Maybe he's fell out of love with the sport. I certainly didn't see the Cermeno loss coming.
