Criticism of Itauma Is Fascinating

Honestly a shame for Itauma in retrospect. From what I've seen tonight he would beat a current AJ in 2 rounds and probably beats most other heavies fairly early too. Ol' Hrg is just a ****ing machine!

 

I was on team Hrgovic, but I'm not inclined to kick a man whilst he is down, and you are right Itauma demonstrated a good chin and incredible heart in that ring. With Itauma though there was a certain feeling that what he was presenting was too good to be true; a 240 lb heavyweight relentlessly throwing sickening power shots with the speed of a lightweight is incredible enough, but if he could do that with the stamina of a lightweight too then he would be a phenom of the likes we have never seen before. As the old adage goes if it seems too good to be true then it probably is, and if Itauma came across someone who could stand up to his power, as Hrgovic did, then what we saw was the logical outcome. Itauma is obviously supremely talented and he will come again, but he needs to go back to the drawing board and reinvent his style somewhat to rely more on boxing as opposed to going in to the ring expecting to bomb out any given opponent.

 

Let us know when he's a champion.

 

I knew Hrgovic was a freak when he took a totally flush left hook from Adeleye without really reacting, let alone getting knocked out. Adeleye isn't very good but his single shot power is possibly the best in the division. Anyone else would've been sparked on the floor.

Honestly the problem here was ring iq imo. If Itauma just took off the rounds, boxed negatively and been avoidant he'd have the win. I'd be interested to see how he can come back from this mentally.

Also he needs to drop Boxercise Ben. Like yesterday.

 

If anything, Moses' stock has gone up for me tonight. He was mauling Hrgovic and winning every round.

Moses looked levels above and Ferrocious. He lost for whatever reason, and Hrgovic won on chin/resilience/heart.

We'll see what this does to Itauma mentally, having unloaded everything on Hrgovic and not getting him out of there. Hopefully it does nothing, as Itauma is still growing into his man strength/size/power.

What he has already is a hell of a lot. He would beat most heavies no problem. He is right there at the top already.

Look, he would probably beat Murat, but what he needs is to go back to the drawing board and have 5-10 developmental fights.

 

Nope! The duck came long before the Hrgovic fight was even on the table.

 

Itauma from tonight beats Gassiev easily. Murat has absolutely nothing for him. Itauma is far, far faster and his chin and heart has now been proven in a dog fight. His chin isn't really a question now since he's taken lots of shots from Hrgovic who is a decently heavy handed. Gassiev meanwhile was getting out manoeuvred by ****ing Wallin and hasn't looked overly impressive for years and has actually regressed imo.

Literally the only question is heart now imo. If he comes back from this determined and undeterred then he can definitely come back and beat most of the division. Even though I picked Hrgovic to win this bout has made me a fan of Itauma and I definitely want to see what he does next.

I definitely agree it's pretty innate for some. However the fix for Itauma is pretty simple imo. He's an insane speed fighter so he should be pretty beastly with a few fixes from a coach who isn't Davison.

 

It's not the issue, and if you don't understand that, then you haven't learned a thing. You will be a sucker for the next hype-job who hasn't earned a thing.

If you've seen my post history you'd know I was one of the few and first calling out Itauma and questioning what he had over a year ago, heart and chin wise, when everyone was hyping him.

Just accept that Gassiev really isn't that good of a HW. He was always one dimensional and has only gotten worse throughout the years. He's also old and injured and unlikely to do anything of note now. His only saving grace is his single shot power which he can not rely on against current Itauma.
