Criticism of Itauma Is Fascinating

Same thing happened to David Haye early in his career it didnt stop him being a dangerous force in the future

Ituama will always have these questions over his head his whole career even if the rest of his career is flawless just like Haye did

 

Itauma has always had stamina issues imo. That's why he needs to improve his iq so he can pick his spots, as imo he is so explosive that he will always gas if he keeps going 100% constantly. Even if he works hard it will always be there at some level. It's a trade off for his gift of insane speed and coordination for a big man.

Hopefully he comes back better and determined. Excited for his future bouts.

 

We all know Ituama has to slow down with the power shots when hes in against top opposition that can take a punch

But also as time goes on and opponants see more footage of him he needs to mix up his attacks more often

He does the same four punches or combinations

If there was more footage of him then fighters can make a gsme plan for him

Its left hand to the body (which nobody seems to be able to defend) to set up the right hook upstairs combinations which Filip did adapt too somewhat during the fight

The step back counter right hook is a great shot too but people will catch on to this the more fights hes in

He also had a great short left hook counter and he throws at the end of the body straight right hook combo

Anyways he needs to work more on different combinations and side footwork openings when he gets the opposition onto the ropes as its mostly straight lines which he gets away with because of his speed so far

The Mike Tyson comparisons really are laughable though

Tyson was so much more dynamic and more creative,Id say David Haye had a better punch variation

 

Fair enough. The point is, they could have got him a title and had him in much better position. But they swerved all the matches that could have helped him.

 

Well, that aged pretty well amongst the dogmatic certainty of his future dominance.

 

It's all down to mental resolve now. Itauma has shown he has the ability. He's a far better fighter than Filip but his few deficiencies were the difference. I agree it was a bad matchup for him.

He could still be king of the division, but he's got some work to do. It's been said already, he needs to work on his pacing and he needs to improve his aerobic capacity. He's got speed, power, skill, heart, a good chin.

More important right this minute is whether he is mentally tough enough to rebound. Some never rebound fully, Donald Curry and George Foreman are two examples despite foreman coming back a thousand years later and winning the lineal title. Others come back with a vengeance. Joe Louis and Sugar Ray Leonard would be two good examples. Both copped tough losses.

And the usual suspects actually were talking about itauma beating Usyk. Lol And I mean the Usyk that just knocked dubois out!

 

Surely they knew he didn't have 12 round fitness so seems like a bad move to match him against someone that can take a punch

 

He can have all the qualities in the world but without a gas tank or a chin he may struggle
