No, I will never understand your complete hatred, and the way you dismiss achievements like they are nothing.
Rico, You are a self proclaimed chin expert... Did you spot Roy's glass jaw before the Ruiz fight? I would be interested to see what you were saying before the fight.
In terms of winning trinket belts? Yes his resume is ahead. In terms of traveling the world to fight and not being scared to fight the best? Absolutely no Jones is not ahead. Jones would NEVER dare go over to the UK, United States or to Germany to try and win a title like Dr Vitali Klitschko did. Jones didn't have it in him. That is something you as a Jones fan are going to have to live with. Just a bunch of "what ifs" and "he woulda, shoulda, coulda" :rofl
Jones feeble Chin was exposed against Del Valle and by his reluctance to fight even one savage puncher in his entire career even before that. The avoiding punchers at every stop was more evidence than anyone needed. Look at Glass Jawed fighters today and they have that EXACT same trait. Why? :think
KillSomething, So he avoided them like the plague when he was in his 20's prime, but then started fighting them in his mid 30's? Makes perfect sense. In other words he was scared? So scared that he went up to HW at 34, to fight a 226 pound HW. I used Floyd and Joe as examples, to prove that you can look at anyone's career, and ask why they missed certain guys. Even Ray Robinson's resume comes under scrutiny. I'm saying that Joe should have moved up to LHW sooner, when HE COULDN'T unify the division. Please let me know when this sinks in. I know that you're saying Roy should have fought the guys in his division. But if he couldn't get the fights, like how Joe couldn't get the Ottke fight, what did you want him to do? Joe couldn't unify against Ottke. Roy couldn't unify against Benn and Liles. What was the difference? None. The scenarios were the same, apart from the fact that Roy moved up, and Joe remained where he was. Now as far as I'm aware, Joe isn't psychic. He didn't know in 2003, that he'd end up having big fights against Lacy and Kessler in 2006 and 2007. But you'll credit him for eventually becoming the man with those two wins, yet you won't give Roy any credit for the Tarver and Ruiz wins. Because there'd been failed negotiations in 1995, and in 1996, he'd turned down seven figures and lost to Malinga. Nobody outside of Europe cared that Collins had beaten Eubank and Benn. Benn was shot by that point. The WBO was a lightly regarded title, that became a laughing stock. Roy's options in 1996, were: To fight Collins for the WBO and remain at SMW. To move up to LHW. He chose the latter. BS he would travel. His resume speaks volumes. He set up his tent in Germany, and he never left there, apart from one fight in Poland, and one when he was younger in Portugal. He never had any intention of going to the U.S. He never went to the U.S. Just go and look at who he fought after he was stripped. Do you think that he wasn't happy fighting those guys? He fought Hall TWICE after Roy had hammered him. Of course Roy was afraid him. So afraid, that he went on to fight Ruiz, Tarver x3, Hopkins, and Calzaghe etc. The Ruiz fight was big, because it was Roy's first fight at the weight. It was highly unlikely that Byrd would have brought a bigger guarantee than Ruiz. It was a bad clash of styles. Roy himself said that they'd have spent the whole night waiting on each other, and it would have been boring for the fans. A Sanders fight brought $10m to the table. But Roy wanted huge money to remain there, because he was approaching 35, and he was a LHW with 50 fights on his resume. Anyone would have wanted huge money in his shoes. This shows how biased you are. It was Bernard who supposedly wanted the fight, because he wanted to avenge his 93 defeat. Yet he wouldn't move up to LHW. He wanted a catchweight. So he expected Roy to drop weight for him, for 50/50, even though Roy had already beaten him. Again, Roy offered him $6m. But he wanted $10m If $6m wasn't enough, then he obviously didn't want the fight. But I guess Roy ducked him, right? I guess that Brad Jacobs made the whole thing up as well? http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/sports/boxing/stories/2002-07-10-jones-hopkins.htm
Roy has multiple wins better than Vitali's best win which was what? Vitali's best wins were 2 losses, to Byrd and Lennox.:good
How could Roy force unifications? You criticise Roy for outclassing guys of a certain level, and state that he didn't fight the best in his division. Yet guys like Roch, Nunn and Collins etc, weren't the best guys in his division. So in your opinion, Roy just decided not to fight the guys who he didn't?
He fought John Ruiz who has ZERO skills or power. N-O-N-E. He hadn't had a KO in almost 5 years at the time he fought Jones. Hell, it is the reason he fought Ruiz. Even Byrd had a KO stoppage in that time frame :roflatsch John Ruiz was a trinket beltholder. His belt was literally meaningless. Lennox Lewis was THE Heavyweight champion and emperor of the division. A Ruiz fight was a circus side show. It was a sparring session with a referee that (correctly) would not allow Ruiz cheating tactics and it was the only Ruiz fight were the rules were enforced which is a little weird to me. Lets not act like Jones went up and slayed a savage puncher with skills. He fought a guy that was tailor made for him along with a referee that would not dare let Ruiz try and use his mauling clinching style in Roy. This was evident when he threatened to take a point almost immediately in the beginning of the fight. Ruiz was flat footed, feather fisted, no skills, no head movement, no anything. He was about like the guys Jones had been fighting at Light Heavyweight.
This just shows your complete lack of knowledge. Why did Roy have to travel when he was considered the best fighter in the world?
Roy's best wins were in 1993 and 1994 against Hopkins and Toney. Then he literally did not fight anyone worth anything for a decade after that. I guess you can say the Tarver win was ok. So the guy went a freaking decade without another meaningful win. Then he got savagely KOed twice in a row fought a bunch of shot bums then got schooled by Calzaghe then returned to getting savagely KOed again then fought bums. See a pattern here?
Well when Ali was the best fighter in the world he traveled. Was Roy better than Ali or too good to travel? atsch
Roy was very wary of travelling in his prime. And who could blame him? http://youtu.be/jjfhvs5vidI What a f*cking disgrace! That even beats some of Bernard's antics. But yeah, Roy was at fault for not going to Germany.
