Here is an article regarding Guthrie's issues with King and the IBF .. http://a.espncdn.com/boxing/news/2000/0705/619935.html Guthrie had taken the IBF to court and won so the winner of the unification bout between Hill and DM had to fight Guthrie .. And the quote from DM's promoter is right here http://boxrec.com/media/index.php/Dariusz_Michalczewski_vs._Virgil_Hill I find it convenient that they didn't know that Guthrie was promised a shot .. But I know. Jones stole these belts No with regards to the WBC what they did to Rochi was unreasonable and he won the belt so I don't feel sorry for the WBC they created this mess by handing the belt back to Jones when he decided not to fight Buster Douglas but instead of fighting. Jones he chose to take them to court that's why the press conference was canceled ..Rochi wasn't even in the states ..Jones would have been interim champ and since Rochi didn't want to fight what were they supposed to do ? Favoritism works both ways ! DM was allowed to do what ever he wanted but it's always on Jones yet he was calling him out..
Except Jones crushed HOF fighters. How many guys who held world titles did he beat? Must have been dozens
Good job putting past prime Jones video. Jones was the most gifted boxer I have ever seen. Like most athlete, he didn't knew when to retire to make sure to retire on top. Now just think about it...how would you look at Roy Jones Jr if he would have retired after the Ruiz fight in a ATG perspective?
1. It's a troll thread. KS admitted two days ago, that he'd try and find another away to detract from Roy, because he'd failed to do so on a previous thread. 2. Hardly any of it is factual. 3. Anyone with an ounce of intelligence, would have realised that when I said that about Ricky Frazier, I was JOKING! atsch
Your ESPN source is not new information. Guthrie was in line for a title shot and it was court ordered to take place 90 days after the Hill vs Michalczewski bout. Their bout was originally scheduled for April and pushed back to June. Thus, DM had only a month to put the fight on, which was impossible and merited an extension. As your boxrec source states: So as you and I have both demonstrated, DM was stripped for not defending his belt within an allotted time frame, not for refusing to defend it. The quote from his promoter is an aside and is totally irrelevant, especially since Guthrie had left King, as proven in your first source. As for Rocchigiani, the press conference was not canceled when he just didn't attend it (since he kind of didn't do those things and was out of the country TRAINING FOR THE FIGHT). The promoter cancelled the fight because Rocchigiani wasn't participating in the promotion. Details: http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/de...jones-jr.-has-to-fight-rocchigiani-1999-10-08 I don't rate ANY of Jones' wins except Hopkins, Toney, and maybe Griffin II, even though Griffin's only 2 quality wins were disputed decisions against Toney. It says a lot that Roy could come back and demolish a guy who was beating him on the cards at the time of the DQ just one fight before. I have no respect for Ruiz as a heavyweight titlist during the reign of Lennox Lewis. Ruiz 'reign' consisted of a loss to a shot Evander Holyfield for a vacant title, a win over a shot Holyfield for the title, a draw with a shot Holyfield for the title, a DQ win over Kirk Johnson in a close fight, and then the loss to Jones in an unwatchable fight. I also find it HIGHLY questionable that Jones was able to add this supposedly massive amount of career-changing muscle in the six months between the Woods and Ruiz fight, especially given Jones' prior steroid issue. Also, people saying 6 months of bulking and then an 8 month cut was enough to make Jones totally shot sounds a little bit like excuses to me. I think he finally faced a good LHW in Tarver and another in Johnson (who was pretty good at that point in his career). Jones finally faced good opponents and was shown up as a limited fighter. He always had problems with decent southpaws, and a tough pressure fighter like Johnson was tailor-made to beat him. You know what would make me rate him highly? If he had taken a more legit route and beat Klitschko who held the WBO title at the time Roy fought Woods. Instead, Roy chose Ruiz and Klitschko was taken out by Sanders a week later. If that was Roy beating him, imagine how well that would have aged... Literally all he had to do was beat DM (the rightful owner of all 4 titles and the lineage) and beat Lennox (lineal heavyweight champ). Unquestionably an ATG resume. The Klitschko win would have looked like a cherrypick at the time, but nowadays it would look like one of the greatest victories of all time. Instead he fought Ruiz and anybody but DM, and his status HAS to suffer for that or there is no justice in the world and the terrorists win.
Please! You admitted two days ago, that you'd try find a way to discredit him. Anybody who wanted a serious discussion, would never have used the same heading.
I don't want a serious discussion. I want us to laugh at how comedic RJJ's career was :good I said i'm always looking for a way to detract from Jones. This is because i don't like him as a person and don't respect his accomplishments as a fighter. I think he's an ATG h2h fighter, but I also think he's much lower on the list than some folks have him and that this is because their perception is skewed by the low quality of his opponents. I would look freaking awesome beating up all the kids on an elementary school playground. When I fight other fighters, i look ordinary.
Previously refuted and most of what he says is not factual. His sources support my arguments and he has low reading comprehension ability.
