Lol, you have got to be getting tired of schooling these guys, seriously. Its exhausting work dealing with idiots. atsch
He was wrong and I showed him how wrong he was. Holyfield wanted the Lennox fight and Lennox wanted the Holyfield fight. That is what champions do. They face each other. Jones did nothing of the sort. Ever.
You refused to read the article my man rather siting an unsubstantiated source that would be biased any way. On top of that Jones fought plenty of titlists. Tarver, Johnson and DeValle come to mind...Ruiz and others. If thats what champions due its time to give him credit. Capishe?
Sorry but Johnson, Del Valle, and even Tarver do not compare to Evander and Lennox. Maybe I should have clarified. Plus the belts Johnson and Del Valle had were useless paperbelts that had been stripped from DM. They didn't mean anything and none of those fights were on the level of a Holyfield-Lennox fight.
Rico Spadafora, You are hilarious! Evander didn't want to fight Roy, and it had NOTHING to do with a potential big fight against Lennox. Now instead of embarrassing yourself by saying 'I don't need to read the link, because I knew his nephews' just read the actual link. It's all there in black and white. He felt as though he was in a no win situation. It specifically says that. Do you think I'm going to take your biased opinion, over what Evander's attorney of thirteen years had to say on the matter? Seriously, how have you got the nerve to call me sad?? Ha! You're trying to imply that Evander didn't take the fight because he had bigger fish to fry. Again, that was NOT the REASON. Seriously?? READ CAREFULLY: Evander didn't want to fight Roy. Again, it had nothing to do with Lennox. Stop making excuses. How and why are you arguing with me, when you haven't even read the excerpt in it's entitrety? This is what Jim Thomas wrote: Evander very politely and respectfully told Jones that he would not participate in a bout with anyone of Jones's size because Evander had nothing to gain. If Evander won, people would merely say that he beat a guy who too small to fight as a heavyweight. You can't argue against the above. atsch
No, the belts were as legit as they get if you follow the ABC orgs. DM could have fought those guys but didnt. And lets not forget Jones beat Ruiz who beat Evander. :nono
It had EVERYTHING to do with getting that Lennox fight and since you are the expert you should know that Holyfield and Jim Thomas haven't been together for years and do not even talk any anymore.
Nobody is disputing that those guys were on the level of Evander vs Lennox. Evander vs Lennox was the biggest fight in boxing. But AGAIN, that had nothing to do with why Evander didn't want to fight Roy.
READ THE LINK!! It had nothing to do with a potential Lennox fight down the road. He turned Roy down, because he was in a no win situation. If he'd have won, he wouldn't have got much credit. And if he'd have lost, it would have been embarrassing for him. Jim Thomas wrote down what had happened. Evander publicly endorsed the book. Stop making a fool of yourself.
Ha! I've got to give you huge props for entertaining us all. One of the funniest things I've ever read on here, was when you recently typed the following: 'I don't need to read the link, I went to High School with Holyfield's nephews...' :rofl
