So are you saying he didn't try to face Holyfield ? I find it funny that the meeting took place there was quotes from Holyfield himself but you come here and say all Jones wanted was to smash and grab atsch And utter stiffs most of the guys people say Roy ducks Jones actually has a better resume than but let you tell it
Unbelievable that the excerpt from Thomas's book makes no difference to these guys. Roy took Greg Fritz to Atlanta to meet Thomas and Evander, but he didn't really want to fight him, he just wanted a break from his farm.
Right he was tired of fighting his chickens so he called Evander up for a bite to eat Some people can't accept the truth even when it's rightbin front of them.
I'm in a no win situation here. I've posted several links that prove Roy did try and make big fights for himself. But then I get told that the links are biased, and he wouldn't have gone through with the fights anyway. atsch
It wouldn't have mattered if Roy showed up with a duffel bag with 1 mil dollars in it. Evander was already planning to fight Lennox for 25 mil which is about triple what he would make if he fought Roy. How on earth do you not understand this? Evander wasn't going to fight ANYONE other than a mandatory before he could get Lennox at that point in time and that is EXACTLY what happened. Roy showing up to beg for a fight at that point was a complete waste of his time.
How on earth do you not understand that a potential fight with Lennox, WAS NOT the reason why Evander didn't take the fight? Why are you continuing to embarrass yourself? You are arguing against what Evander and Thomas have said.
His father intervened at the last moment and talked him out of it. If he hadn't have done, or if Roy had've ignored him, he would have taken the fight. He went up in 2003, so we know he was genuine.
Did his father talk him out of it at the last moment? Yes or no? Did he fight at HW in 2003? Yes or no? You're asking me if I'm a comedian, when you're arguing against what Thomas and Evander said?
It's quite enjoyable to read General Zods knowledgeable posts about Roy Jones Jrs interesting path through the boxing industry. I start to wonder if GZ's sudden disapperances and reapperances in the thread might be because the fella is out there doing some field research just to cover all the angles
Zod's a great poster, who knows a hell of a lot about boxing. But when it comes to Roy, he's biased. He simply doesn't like him. Yes, he'll be back with more links. :good
