You need to be able to move both ways, if you simply circle then you'll get tracked down and cornered. This video there is no serious pressure, but when there is you need to be able to move both ways to keep your opponent thinking.

Yeah thats true but you went left the whole time so im guessing you are similar when against an orthodox guy, just a guess.

Stand in your stance and turn your front hip and foot to the right, try circling right like this.
Once you have taken a back step out of range of your opponent you will find moving like this around the ring is pretty easy, this is the sort of thing you should be doing as a taller fighter to make sure its an outside fight. Just make sure your back in stance when in range.

Yeah, this is the first time iv filmed myself sparring. In my next video (I'm going to start uploading one every 2 weeks) I will go with an orthodox fighter if i can.

thanks for the advice, ill practice that.

Thats impressive, for 4 month He is putting to much on you. It seems the coach knows what He is doing, listen to what He is telling you, well done.

It means he should have taken it easier on you.

He is not giving you time as a novice to think. By that it works two ways. You panic, He doesnt get the best out of you, so He is not taking advantage of a sparr where He can learn defensive moves. Mind looking at Him He isnt too experianced Himself, He is forceing the issue theres no supplety there shame.

I'm the other guy, I didn't think I was putting too much on him. I'm alot heavier and have much more experience and there were 2 shots I put abit of pop in but the rest were light. Or do you mean too much pressure? Because I felt I was staying off enough too.

I'm just asking this for my sparring partners, I want to be able to help the newer guys out in sparring, I think this one has alot of potential.

Hi mate its a situation where you could take advantage off. You in my mind look one tsob :D. All it takes is to use the grey matter to get the most out of the situation. I can see youre not a bully, so what youre doing is switching of, and not working on Laterall movement and defense. Let the guys come forward trying step offs and slipping touch His gloves Kid him, relax enjoy learning craft it works both ways. Tell Him if He gets to brave youll give Him a Clump :good

Ok, thanks for the feedback on this. Naturally I'm a power puncher, 5ft5 at 63lg in the amatuers I come up against alot of guys taller than me. Obviously here I'm careful what I put in my shots, but maybe toning it down more and making it purely trechnical is best, and just moving smoothly. As you can see here, my movement isn't very good, and hopefully I can get as much out of these sessions in the future as the newer guys can. Thanks for replying.
