Since everyone here is accused of being a fanboy, lets switch it around and name some of the negative aspects of your favorite fighter.

    favorite: Wlad
    negatives:
*goes into a defensive shell when hit instead of coming back with his own shots. some might call it lacking "balls" :yep
    *lacks uppercut
*too mechanical at times and appears out-of-sync early in fights
    *C chin
    *When tired, becomes chicken-legged
    *too passive at times

    Strengths
    - High workrate
    - Nice chin
    - Great reach
    - Fights all comers

    Weaknesses
    - Does not use height
    - Does not take advantage of reach
    - Does not sit on punches
    - Still a raw fighter.

    Marvin Hagler
*Erm.. he couldn't dance like Ali
*Err, err, he didn't have quite the single punch power of a Hearns
*Err, he wasn't the cleanest fighter ever

    Lucian Bute:

    • fights too tentatively and doesn't come in to fight more, despite being a boxer puncher with a very good chin
    • seems to be happy to work his way up towards the top slowly, not gunning for the hard fights

    Calzaghe

When he tries too hard to impress he makes a fool of himself.
WTF was that showboating against Bika? Tried too hard to impress the American audience and made himself look like a ****.

    Vitali:

Had the toughness and tools to be an ATG with a body from the geriatric ward.

    Joe Calzaghe

    - Little off balance and open on occasions
    - Can try to impress too much

Floyd Mayweather Jr. - Too dominant in comparison to his peers. This ususally results in one sided fights that lack drama. I would like to see him slack off a bit and not train as hard so that I can see him in more competitive fights.

Well...poor defence to the extent that he'd find it a long match against A level fighters...but not poor defence given his experience, no....actually, relatively good defence. Anyway, his defence is improving every fight and in two three years I expect it will be very good. His jab needs to improve too...but then, Bute IS very much a work in progress...he's not like Kessler or Calzaghe.

    MIGUEL COTTO
    • Leaky defensively
    • Doesn't have much head movement, although he makes up for it by fighting effectively out of a high guard
    • Susceptible to overhand rights and uppercuts
    • Good chin, but certainly not iron (can be cracked)
    • Not a great boxer off of the backfoot, which is why he has to move and pick spots to counter (giving some fans the appearance that he's running)
    • I'm not sure how he would react to a stronger pressure fighter who really challenges him

    Carl Froch

    - Low hands
    - Slack footwork
    - Poor (or rather non existent) head movement

    CONS:

    * Reached his mental peak too late in life
    * Had a tendancy to commit fouls in the past
    PROS:
    * Has just entered his mental & spiritual prime
    * Shall inevitably rule the heavyweight division
